If your Emails are synced to a Microsoft 'cloud' live account then the Emails have not gone, as you will see if you log on with webmail. If you create a new folder (e.g. called temp) in wlm where the folders should have been, close wlm, then open it again then you will probably find that all the other folders have reappeared. You do the same thing with sub folders which will probably also have dissappeared.
Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012
Have been using this program for months now on windows 10 32 bit, and I get an email saying that MS are making changes to Outlook servers and to patch WLM 2012 and a download link.
I applied the patch and now after a few seconds of being open WLM 2012 crashes while updating the calendar.
Anyone know a fix for this? I have taken the patch off by repairing Windows essentials 2012 from the Programs and features dialog, but anyone know why this patch causes WLM to crash after a few seconds?

2015-12-13T09:49:30+00:00 Today I also got a notification in the taskbar of my Surface Pro /Win 8.1.
I tells me that I should install the update of Live essentials.
Microsoft, do you also want to ruin my tablet now? Why don`t you stop that **** update after having been informed about this disaster by so many users?

2015-12-13T13:51:51+00:00 Windows 8 compatibility mode does not make any difference. The only workaround is not to sign in to update the calendar.
if you sign the calendar out on the toolbar wlm will no longer query the calendar for updates. But if you sign in and click remember me and sign me in automatically it will crash immediately.
Best option is to uncheck remember me and click forget me.
Where exactly do you sign in/out of only calendar? My sign out option is for WLM.
When I had the patch installed there was not time to sign out, because it crashed too fast. It seems that when you are signed in that includes Calendar.
I reinstalled WLM and all is Ok now and I am not going to do anything more until I receive better info from MS.

2015-12-14T01:17:34+00:00 Dear Microsoft there will always be folks that have affections for software programs that they've held for years simply because we love WLM; It exceeds our needs & goes well beyond "just working" - This is the case for Windows Live Mail 2012. Please talk with your developers & gives us a Christmas gift. Give us Windows Live Mail 2015 or 2016. We love the software & we don't want to part with it.
As of now, so as to avoid this hullabaloo, I'm using Thunderbird for the first time, I'm using TZPush to sync my contacts with Outlook. It works fine but I feel like a fish out of the water. Thanks
