Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

Have been using this program for months now on windows 10 32 bit, and I get an email saying that MS are making changes to Outlook servers and to patch WLM 2012 and a download link.

I applied the patch and now after a few seconds of being open WLM 2012 crashes while updating the calendar.

Anyone know a fix for this? I have taken the patch off by repairing Windows essentials 2012 from the Programs and features dialog, but anyone know why this patch causes WLM to crash after a few seconds?

Tim

I guess I'm relatively lucky.  Live Mail 2012 (Build 16.4.3564.1216) is working relatively well on my Win 7 Pro desktop ... with one exception.

The batch of Windows Updates I installed on Jan. 23 included KB 3093594.  Since that date, one of my Hotmail accounts hasn't downloaded any messages from the server.  A separate Hotmail account and an Outlook.com account seem to continue working and syncing normally.

Guess I could try to remove that update, or to switch switch that account to an IMAP account as suggested here, but I'm still holding out hope that all will be made right eventually.

I'm utterly non-technie and so I am worried about the consequences of trying to un-update or delete/change an account.  Would hate to lose everything, or even some things.

Looking forward to any counsel from wiser participants.

    Thank you.

This topic appears to have dried up !

My situation was and still is --- WLM12 still working fine on Win 8.1 64bit.

Due to all reported problems, I did not download the update as per Microsoft email.

Microsoft knowledge article shows the KB as being at issue 2 but comments it is still subject to problems which are being investigated.

I contacted Microsoft using outlook.uservoice as mentioned in link in above post, asking when all issues with KB would be resolved. Received reply from Microsoft support engineer asking me to send screen shots of my problem --- he hadn't really read or understood the issue. On 7th January I sent him links to knowledge articles , forum posts etc but have not received acknowledgement or reply!

I have noted that Microsoft are now pushing the KB as an optional update via Windows Update although the knowledge article still states that it has potential problems !!

I have "hidden" the update for now as I don't want to introduce problems with WLM [my Outlook account has not yet been updated]

Does anybody know what is happening? Is the KB still lethal? Are Microsoft working on a fix?

As a non techy, simple user, I am left bewildered by this saga ---- ADVICE PLEASE

Thank you.  This worked for me.  I'm running Windows 7.  When I applied the 12/11 patch, the only thing I noticed wrong was I was missing folders and subfolders I created, and the emails in the sent box were all addressed to me.  I was able to get the folders to return and I felt I'll just deal with the sent box emails.  But since yesterday I could no longer receive emails or send out emails.  So this fixed it.  Thank you.

I'm afraid to apply any more patches...Is there something I should do now to keep WLM working since I'm on Windows 7.  Not tech savvy, so I'm struggling with some of the things I'm reading here to understand..

It is now also impossible to delete main calendar at outlook.com and you cannot make another default so main can be deleted as in old outlook.com. Big privacy issue.
