Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

Have been using this program for months now on windows 10 32 bit, and I get an email saying that MS are making changes to Outlook servers and to patch WLM 2012 and a download link.

I applied the patch and now after a few seconds of being open WLM 2012 crashes while updating the calendar.

Anyone know a fix for this? I have taken the patch off by repairing Windows essentials 2012 from the Programs and features dialog, but anyone know why this patch causes WLM to crash after a few seconds?

    Windows Live Mail is a much, much better email client that the one MAIL that comes with Windows 10

    I wish and suggest that Microsoft do not sabotage windows live 2012 as they did with 2011.

    Why not kill windows 10 MAIL and replace it with Windows live Mail 2012 essentials MICROSOFT?

    Not everything that is new is necessarily better!

    Thank you, Noel.

    Your advice is so clear and simple it's a little scary.  Even using Live Mail's default settings for a Hotmail account.

    Just to confirm ... deleting the account won't delete or otherwise mess with messages that have previously been downloaded in Live Mail?  

    It will simply clear the deck for a new, and hopefully, functional, sync relationship with that account's servers?

    Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I get a little paranoid whenever I break something trying to fix it.

    What error are you now seeing?

    The cure for synchronization errors these days is usually to remove the account and add it back again to refresh the sync relationship with the server. There are a lot of changes going on.

    1. Right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Remove account.
    2. When it's gone, close down Windows Live Mail and wait for five minutes while the program adjusts to the change, then re-launch the program.
    3. Press Ctrl-Shift-T to start the Add your email accounts wizard, then follow the prompts to set up the account again. You only need to enter your email address, password and display name for outgoing messages - the program will do the rest.
    4. Wait for the program to re-download your folders and messages. This might take some time (minutes or hours, depending on the number of messages involved), so leave it alone to get on with it.

    My Windows Live Mail 2012 Build 16.4.3564.1216 seemed to survive the patch ... until 3 Feb, which is the last date mail sync worked for me.

    Maybe I should change to Outlook 2010 - does any know if that works with Hotmail?
