Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

Well documented DKO777.  I also do not sign in in WLM. 

I hope these issues are fixed soon!

I have WLM 2012 set to check for new emails every 1 minute (as it is not connected all the time I am using my PC)

You may want to adjust this - 1 minute is probably too short an interval, because it can easily take longer than that for polling a single account to complete, let alone if there are several accounts being polled. If one polling session has not completed before the next is due to start, the results will be unpredictable.  Hotmail used to recommend no less than 20 minutes between polls ...

After updating to 16.4.3564.1216. (latest patch) I did a test email from a WLM 2012 Hotmail account (normal setting)  

The interesting tests would be to compare performance for an HTTP account that has been upgraded to Outlook Mail (and thus using EAS) with one that hasn't (and thus using DeltaSync).

My tests using Windows Live Mail 2012 build 16.4.3564.1216 on Windows 7 x86 show that

• For an account that hasn't been upgraded,
  • The sent message doesn't appear immediately in the Windows Live Mail Sent itemsfolder.
  • It does appear almost immediately in the Sent folder at Outlook.com
  • It appears in the Sent items folder after the next sync.
  • The To field is incorrectly populated with the sender.

There may be an explanation (but no excuse) for this. Windows Live Mail records different layouts for the message list for the different types of account (POP3, IMAP and HTTP) for incoming and outgoing mail. Because the message is downloaded from the Outlook.com server, it acquires the properties of an incoming message and is displayed as such even though it's in the Sent items folder, which in other situations only contains outgoing messages. You can correct the display by dragging the message out of the Sent items folder and dropping it on the desktop, where it will appear as an .eml file with its subject as filename. Drag this message back into the message list of the Sent items folder to see its header fields properly displayed.  

• For an account that has been upgraded,
  • The sent message doesn't appear immediately in the Windows Live Mail Sent itemsfolder.
  • It does appear almost immediately in the Sent folder at Outlook.com
  • It never turns up in the Sent items folder. (This may be because I seem to have a problem synchronizing sent items. I'll try the test again once I've cleared that up.)

Any chance of getting an uninstall command for the latest updated (12/17) version of the patch?  The crash problem is addressed but the sent item "To" displaying sender not recipient is still not fixed.

The KB article still doesn't mention Windows 10, but the statement you may find that the program crashes soon after startseems to indicate that the revision addresses the stability problem that Windows 10 users have faced, since this only seemed to happen on Windows 10. I don't have a test rig handy, so I can't find out whether this is the case.

I used the new patch just a few minutes ago to try it on windows 7 64 bit. My windows Live Mail version is now 16.4.3564.1216. Still no calendar sync.
