Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

Have been using this program for months now on windows 10 32 bit, and I get an email saying that MS are making changes to Outlook servers and to patch WLM 2012 and a download link.

I applied the patch and now after a few seconds of being open WLM 2012 crashes while updating the calendar.

Anyone know a fix for this? I have taken the patch off by repairing Windows essentials 2012 from the Programs and features dialog, but anyone know why this patch causes WLM to crash after a few seconds?

Tim

EM Client is great when using AirSync, but I am testing it using IMAP which I believe we may have to use soon because Microsoft will kill Airsync capability.  IMAP has issues with Hotmail etc which they are working on.  Attachments don't work.

I have successfully got my Hotmail accounts working with Thunderbird using IMAP

I was going to look at it as it has had good reviews BUT regretfully the free version only allows a maximum of 2 email accounts. I have more so unless willing to pay, it is not an option for me :(

    >  Is your calendar intact at calendar.live.com? Called Outlook Calendar (Preview)?

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=70817672-ec89-4a5a-a26b-313b66a932fe)

Yes, my calendar is intact at calendar.live.com, no change there. Where is outlook calendar preview?

If you don't see that heading (Outlook Calendar (Preview)) when you open your calendar online, your account has not yet been upgraded.

Since there should be no problem after applying KB3093594 to Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7 with synchronizing the calendar for an account that hasn't been upgraded, I can only imagine that your repeated applications of the patch have managed to corrupt the local copy of the calendar. We can try to correct this:

    1. Use the right-most button on the Home tab of the ribbon to Sign out of Windows Live Mail, then close the program down.
    2. Copy the next black line into the start search box and press Enter:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Calendars

This should open an Explorer window at your Calendars folder. 3. Right-click on the folder named with the email address of your Microsoft Account (the one with the problem) and select Rename. Remove the '@' symbol from the folder name. 4. Launch Windows Live Mail and wait for any mail sync/download to finish. 5. Sign in and wait for the status message *Your calendar has been updated,*assuming it appears. 6. Switch to the calendar window (Ctrl-2).

Please tell us what happens ...

Windows Live Mail 2012 is  'Build 16.4.3563.0918'.

I followed all the steps one by one but the problem remains. I got the 'Your calendar has been updated' message but still no entries in calendar. My mail sync works ok and all mail messages were downloaded. In '*Calendars'*folder I have now the renamed folder xxxxhotmail.com with a folder named '*Backup 2015-12-14 09.21.06' in it.*There are 3 files in that last folder :   edb.chk       WLCalendarStore.edb         WLCalendarStore.pat

I tried 'previous versions' for these 3 files but there were 'no previous versions available'.

In 'Calendars' folder I also have a second new folder named xxxx(at sign)hotmail.com  which is empty.

My calendar at calendar.live.com  still intact.
