Many users of Windows Live Mail 2012 have received an email under this heading from the Outlook Team advising them of the changes that are taking place at Outlook.com as accounts are migrated to the same platform as that used by Office 365. Apart from advice to switch to using the built-in Mail apps on Windows 8.1 and 10, users are instructed to apply the patch KB3093594 . A few points to note: The change means that migrated accounts can no longer be synchronized using the old DeltaSync protocol. To synchronize these accounts, users can set up the account again to use IMAP . This will enable mail messages and folders to synchronize, but not the calendar and contacts. The patch enables support for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) to be used instead of DeltaSync in Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 (see System requirements on the download page). Mail synchronization errors can often be cleared by removing the account, closing down the program and waiting a few minutes, then re-launching it and adding the account back again. We don't know what is going to happen with Windows Live Mail 2009 on XP and 2011 on Vista. It is clear that users will no longer be able to sign in with a migrated account to synchronize contacts and calendar, and they won't be able to synchronize mail messages and folders using DeltaSync. Whether the programs will continue to work in other respects (e.g. as a POP3, IMAP and NNTP client) remains to be seen. Apart from this question of synchronizing mail, calendars and contacts with a Microsoft Email account, there is no change now or in the foreseeable future for Windows Live Mail 2012. Thanks for your response. I had carefully prepared my response, pressed submit, and did not realize that it failed because I'd dropped internet connection ..... deleted the response ... UGH! So here I go again..... I do not remember the sequence that led to loss of events that were in LOCAL calendar. I did see forum conversations about how to restore IF you had never signed in in WLM. I found the directory but not the file since I had signed in. The email for the initial update (16.4.3563.0918) was not really clear about not applying to Windows 10. I was unsure and did it. However, that is OBE since I re-installed WLM and have no sync errors now. I was updating a second computer that had Windows 10 and WLM 2011 to WLM 2012. I did NOT sign in on that old computer and I do still have the LOCAL calendar with events up to Oct 2015 when I stopped updating that calendar. That LOCAL calendar has no value to me and I had planned to sign in and use the Outlook calendar there. HOWEVER, I do NOT want to destroy the new events I've added on my new computer SIGNED IN. Please reply with any instructions to prevent loss of new events (if any needed) and I'll sign in on old computer and verify if those old LOCAL events populate the Outlook (signed in) calendar. It is the recent update that killed Live Mail. I am not the only one reporting this, nor the only one discussing this issue. The update you sent out for Live Mail killed the updating of received mail coming in. Some syncing is not occurring, and the new mail is not going to, coming into, or downloading to our accounts in LIVE MAIL. The recent update did this, or you don't have the system operational yet. You need to read some of the discussions that are ongoing reference LIVE mail, and the issues, like not receiving mail, etc. If we log into the accounts in the Web Mail, we can see the real email. Then compare it to what we see in LIVE MAIL, and the two do not match. We have all done in uninstall, reinstall, repair, and more. The problem is with LIVE MAIL.

Font changes on headers on launching mail with new emails Message 'sent to' column STILL shows the recipients name with the account column empty ( I cure this by moving each mail to the junk folder and back again but it creates 2 emails one of which I then delete ) My folders and sub folders sometimes disappear from time to time, which I am able to make visible again by creating an empty folder with any name and then I delete it (in the same location). This makes the folder re appear normally again ! Emails sent take ages to appear in the sent folder , and don't show in the outbox , they are in limbo somewhere ??? The so called update (download) does nothing to correct the issues. The issues remain. The above issues we all see from a previous post by someone else All the above items are what many of us are experiencing, and more. Incoming email does not arrive. Have to go to the actual WebMail to see incoming email, and it does not arrive in the LIVE MAIL ACCOUNTS. Question is, is MS or their TECH's reading these issues and what IS MS DOING ABOUT IT? The last two "updates" started these issues and created them. Even after installing the most recent patch/update/download.

The answer to your two Questions is: NO The best one can hope for is a response from a community member that has had a similar problem and found a solution that they will post as a reply to your problem. Its understood that most ILF's left the MS complex during their last round of downsizing and as a result their is no one at home capable of responding to questions.

Microsoft has not listened to its user base. Windows 10 is not all that great. We also want a solution that stores email locally and not on servers. Then to start breaking users on purpose to force a migration to Windows 10 and the built-in email service is out of the question. I'm seriously thinking of abandoning my Microsoft based machines in favor of a Mac or something running Linux.

So here I go again.....

I do not remember the sequence that led to loss of events that were in LOCAL calendar. I did see forum conversations about how to restore IF you had never signed in in WLM. I found the directory but not the file

since I had signed in.

The email for the initial update (16.4.3563.0918) was not really clear about not applying to Windows 10. I was unsure and did it. However, that is OBE since I re-installed WLM and have no sync errors now.

I was updating a second computer that had Windows 10 and WLM 2011 to WLM 2012. I did NOT sign in on that old computer and I do still have the LOCAL calendar with events up to Oct 2015 when I stopped updating that calendar.

That LOCAL calendar has no value to me and I had planned to sign in and use the Outlook calendar there. HOWEVER, I do NOT want to destroy the new events I've added on my new computer SIGNED IN.
