We don't know what is going to happen with Windows Live Mail 2009 on XP and 2011 on Vista. I have two email accounts on outlook.com. The oldest one will only work using pop3 the newest one must be profiled using IMAP-Mail, other wise it will not sync with the server. The oldest one will not work with IMAP-Mail. I don't think the age of the account has any bearing on the matter. All accounts with a mailbox at mail.live.com are provisioned for IMAP as far as I'm aware. What happens when you try to connect to it using IMAP? The error message you see should provide clues to what's wrong. SWR provide = Software provider. Thank you - I've not come across that abbreviation before.

The most recent update for LIVE Mail has not corrected any issues, and my mail is not syncing nor is it arriving in my LIVE EMAIL account. Does MS plan on fixing this? I have a Dell with Windows 7. Solution (that I eventually used): After trying to delete from WLM and add the mail accounts back into WLM with no success, I uninstalled and reinstalled WLM. This solved the sync problem for me (I think). I haven't checked the web mails recently but have done a simple test sending emails between each of my 3 accounts that all synced. I did destroy my local calendar because I did not know that signing in with Outlook meant changing from the local calendar. Sure would be nice if developers would add a brief description of what an answer means. I did not assume that everyone was a savvy user in the 45 years I was a software developer....yes, I'm old!

Or was it first after re-installing? I'm keen to find out what happened to your default calendar, because it's a serious defect if its events are lost in connection with the update procedure.

I don't think the age of the account has any bearing on the matter. All accounts with a mailbox at mail.live.com are provisioned for IMAP as far as I'm aware. What happens when you try to connect to it using IMAP? The error message you see should provide clues to what's wrong.

Background:

I had updated both computers to Windows 10.

I had local calendar.

Solution (that I eventually used):

After trying to delete from WLM and add the mail accounts back into WLM with no success, I uninstalled and reinstalled WLM.

This solved the sync problem for me (I think).

I haven't checked the web mails recently but have done a simple test sending emails between each of my 3 accounts that all synced.

I did destroy my local calendar because I did not know that signing in with Outlook meant changing from the local calendar.
