Many users of Windows Live Mail 2012 have received an email under this heading from the Outlook Team advising them of the changes that are taking place at Outlook.com as accounts are migrated to the same platform as that used by Office 365. Apart from advice to switch to using the built-in Mail apps on Windows 8.1 and 10, users are instructed to apply the patch KB3093594. A few points to note:

  1. The change means that migrated accounts can no longer be synchronized using the old DeltaSync protocol. To synchronize these accounts, users can set up the account again to use IMAP. This will enable mail messages and folders to synchronize, but not the calendar and contacts.
  2. The patch enables support for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) to be used instead of DeltaSync in Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 (see System requirements on the download page).
  3. Mail synchronization errors can often be cleared by removing the account, closing down the program and waiting a few minutes, then re-launching it and adding the account back again.
  4. We don't know what is going to happen with Windows Live Mail 2009 on XP and 2011 on Vista. It is clear that users will no longer be able to sign in with a migrated account to synchronize contacts and calendar, and they won't be able to synchronize mail messages and folders using DeltaSync. Whether the programs will continue to work in other respects (e.g. as a POP3, IMAP and NNTP client) remains to be seen.
  5. Apart from this question of synchronizing mail, calendars and contacts with a Microsoft Email account, there is no change now or in the foreseeable future for Windows Live Mail 2012. Mail accounts configured to use POP3 or IMAP will continue to work as before, the default calendar and contacts lists will still be available and the other functions - RSS feeds and newsgroups - continue as before.

    Program can't start because WLDCore.dll missing.

    There are a number of files used by more than one of the Windows Live programs and services, so they're stored together in shared folders. If one of the programs can't find one of the common files, it's often because there's a problem with the PATH system variable, which should contain the paths to the shared folders. On a 64-bit system, that would be:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;<br><br><br>C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;<br><br><br>C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared;

    To check the PATH, press Windows key  + R, type cmd and press Enter to open a command window. Type path into the window and press Enter, then look for the entries shown in the box above.

    Hey on issue: "Program can't start because WLDCore.dll missing. Try re-installing program..."

    I had the same issue this worked...  FYI

    go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared and copy wldcore.dll

    Paste it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mailand to the other Live programs ..

    Guys I think once the migration of outlook.com to the 0365 backend is done, so will this thread. MS just does not communicate stuff. They really need to learn to sweat the details more.

    An additional problem is the update corrupts the ability to click an email link in for example a browser window and have it launch WLM

    Error - "Program can't start because WLDCore.dll missing. Try re-installing program..."

    Neither a repair or reinstall of WLM does anything to address.

    MS Has multiple mail servers. I have two email accounts on outlook.com. The oldest one will only work using pop3

    the newest one must be profiled using IMAP-Mail, other wise it will not sync with the server.

    The oldest one will not work with IMAP-Mail.  

    I have two other email accounts charter.com and netzero.com and both require POP3, because they work with

    non MS mail servers.  

    In trouble shooting my outlook problems I found reference to the multiple MS mail servers and the fact that they were not all updated. d-mail. msp fix for pc resident outlook  client, had to be removed to get both outlook accounts to work. I suspect the my oldest outlook account will not work when MS finishes their server upgrades.

    SWR provide = Software provider.

    This entire thing is a TYPICAL Microsoft Mail team debacle. The most recent in a long line of such major failures. And as ALWAYS they are doing nothing to actually fix the problem. 

    Your first post was Dec 14 if I recall. Its is almost a month later and there has been ZERO fix from Microsoft. As far as I know there has been no communication from MS and no notes on status or timeframe for a fix. 

    Many of us rely on WLM as a client for multiple emails. And the problems do extend to them as well. I regularly have problems and delays with POP3 from other providers. I have no damn clue if my emails are up to date and accurate. And I still must go to Outlook online - separately - to see my MSN emails.

    This is 100% inexcusable. 

    At the same time Microsofts mail team is responding nearly instantaneously to Outlook Preview comments and making almost instant changes where warranted.
