Windows 7 and applied the update. Now I get:

Many users of Windows Live Mail 2012 have received an email under this heading from the Outlook Team advising them of the changes that are taking place at Outlook.com as accounts are migrated to the same platform as that used by Office 365. Apart from advice to switch to using the built-in Mail apps on Windows 8.1 and 10, users are instructed to apply the patch KB3093594. A few points to note:

Windows 7 and applied the update. Now I get:
Will Windows Live Mail 2011 still work on Windows 7 platform? I love Win7 and do NOT want to upgrade to 10.
... patches for software that breaks the program instead of fixing it?
This patch doesn't break anything.
... the patch does not work!
The patch is working on my Windows 7 machine. In what way is it not working for you?
You'll have noted that this update is not for Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 10:
Not sure what you are saying in item 2. The patch is not for W10?
Item 3 seems to say that if the patch was installed in W10, that the compatibility setting might fix the issue.
I fixed the problem by uninstalling WLM and then downloading it from MS and reinstalling it. All is OK now, but I am unclear as to what W10 users are now to do. Maybe the new download has the fix already embedded in it or W10 users do not need to do anything.
I think MS needs to reissue the information with clearer steps to take.
Can someone at Microsoft please explain why they are releasing patches for software that breaks the program instead of fixing it?
Can they please fix the patch (Knowledge Base Article KB3093594) and reissue it?
I can understand why Microsoft are discontinuing DeltaSync and using ActiveSync but the patch does not work!
Fix it!
