Does anybody know how to stop the Windows Compatability Telemetry (CompatTelRunner.exe) from starting? It causes extremely high disk usage which results in large performance issues.

The simple fact that Microsoft don't participate in this discussion is proof that they don't care.

Not much of an answer that John... just wait a few hours it will be fine... lol.

I have become fed up (and it seems I am not alone in this sentiment) of having to wait my turn to use my PC, a machine I spent good money on to try and ensure it had the performance I needed, but it seems Microsoft is falling over itself trying to find ways to consume that resource for me. It now seems I need two machines: One to run Windows and another one to run my programs on.

    Dave.

    Hi,

Hope all of you have got the solution to Microsoft Windows Compatability Telemetry. I faced the same problem and it was taking High CPU usage for me. In this case, I applied some of the methods from here. It has helped me to solve the issues permanently.

For making the process easier I am mentioning 1 methods to solve Windows Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry in Windows 10, 8 or 7.

    1. Open RUN by pressing Windows Key + R and then type gpedit.msc to open Group Policy.
    2. Then follow this path: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds.
    3. Double Click on Allow Telemetry. Now Disabled It.
    4. Restart The PC.

I have got the solution to Windows Telemetry. I think you will not any problem. You can enable it again if needs to use the service.

    Thanks a lot. :)
