Disabling Windows Compatability Telemetry

Diagnostics Tracking Service doesn't appear as an option in my Services Desktop App, so the way it worked was not at all. I had some success disabling the executable file by way of AVG PC Tuneup, which worked for a while, but then the other night the damned thing started running again. I've gone through everything again and cannot even find the executable file on my hard drive, but it's there and running. I have had less trouble with actual viruses! Now saving up for a Mac.

I've this one set to Disable and yet my first half hour on the computer today consisted of waiting for the 100% disk usage to stop. Very VERY annoying! 

Is there possibly another problem I need to address? I've opted out of the programme and disabled the process already.

Yes there is... but which version of Windows 10 do you have? If it's Home, then Home lacks a number of features of which this may be one. (In Win 10 Home, for example, you cannot stop a system from rebooting to apply updates unless you throw it out of the window of a 10th story apartment block. A response that Windows 10 (especially Home version) seems to engender remarkably well.)

The item that Bill pointed to is certainly present in my Windows 10 Pro box. And has, of course, been set to Disabled since I was sick to death of my notebook turning into the Chernobyl reactor because Microsoft doesn't seem to know how to code any more.

Just a heads up, they changed the display name from Diagnostics Tracking Service to Connected User Experiences and Telemetry. The real name is still diagtrack in PowerShell and the services tab under Task Manager though. I guess they thought people wouldn't like to see "Tracking Service" running on their PC, so they made it go incognito.

Windows Compatibility Telemetry is really one of the most vicious, if not malicious, pieces of software MS constantly tries to push on their users of Windows 10. Even when you kill the process, it just tries again, a few minutes later. Or if you remove a KB with the telemetry in it, they sneak it back in via another way. I say it's therefore malicious, because they understand you don't want it installed, and then go out of their way to shove it down your throat anyway. CEASE AND DESIST, please.

It's bad enough it's questionable spyware. It's worse it's constanty trashing my hard disk.
