Disabling Windows Compatability Telemetry

I would like Microsoft to pay for the upgrade.

I know this is an old thread but, to avoid this file or any of the Windows Compatibility Telemetry files from getting installed on your PC. Go to Control Panel.. choose Windows Update options and UNCHECK the box for getting "recommended" updates. Then when MS says there are "Optional" updates available when you manually check for updates... click the update you might want to install so it is highlighted as the selection and click the "more info" down in right side of the Windows Update app window. This takes you to description of that update where you can find out what it does.

It is standard practice now that I R-Mouse click updates and choose "hide" if it is anything to do with "Windows Compatibility" "Telemetry" and in my case "Remote Desktop" functions of Windows. Keep in mind I'm talking about the ones that describe the "compatibility" as for upgrading Windows. This is different than Windows Compatibility mode for an app--which enables you to set programs to run as though they were on a different operating system version, say for example "Windows XP sp2" compatibility mode.

I did a clean install and it still is happening.  This happens on every PC I own, my family owns, my friends own and systems at work it isn't just one system.  Most people who don't notice this behavior are using SSD's (it runs quicker), have nothing else installed on their PC/laptop (very little to scan), or they leave their system up 24/7 (it runs in the middle of the night instead of when you turn your system on).

I am having a similar problem but do not have the specific update installed.
