Lumia 950XL 5ghz Wifi issue

So I have found when using my 5Ghz N network the phone will lose all WiFi networking.   On first use, it will connect up OK.  But let it sit and come back to it, it will have lost the WiFi network and the ability to see any other WiFi network with "no networks found".  Only a phone reboot will fix it until it happens again.

So far I've experienced it on my Linksys E8350 (supposed AC2400 and MIMO which the 950XL claims to support).  My Wifi router is set for Wireless A or N on 5Ghz, while it can do N, B, or G on 2.4

My workaround is to  only connect to the 2.4Ghz WiFi at this point. 

Anyone else experiencing complete WiFi radio failure like this?

    The phone has been out for what 7 months now and they have not fixed this issue? Pathetic.

    Hello - made exact the same experience with a 950 DS with your FW and all previous ones as well as with 01078.00038.16025.39021.

    So I just got my Lumia 950xl two days ago. I had a lumia 920 previously.  I have an ASUS RT-N66u router and a ASUS RT-AC3100 router.  Both offer 5GHZ networks HOWEVER one is AC and the other is N.  My 920 would work fine with the N 5ghz network of course but not the AC since it didn't have an AC radio.

    Fast forward to 2 days ago with the 950xl..  It will connect to both 5ghz networks HOWEVER after either leaving the range of the routers or a few hours it drops the 5ghz connection and switches to 2Ghz.  If i shut off the phone and turn it back on 5ghz comes back for a few hours and again will drop. 

    My build and version info is:

    Version: 1511

    OS Build: 10.0.10586.218

    Firmware revision number: 01078.00038.16025.39005

    Hardware revision number: 4.0.3.1

    Radio software version: BO25c43.00009.0001

    I opened a case with Microsoft support. However they appear to be dragging their feet.

    Update.... My phone is the dual sim model. I only have a single sim in it though. I thought what the heck let me try something. I turned off the sim1 one (sim2 wont turn on because there is nothing in the  slot) and with sim1 off 5GHZ shows up.  Turned sim1 back on and waiting to see if/when 5GHZ drops off.  I'll keep you posted.

    I noticed the following behavior with my Lumia 950 10586.164 Build. As soon as the DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) of my Fritzbox Router starts, the 5Ghz is stopped for a few minutes as expected on certain 5GHz Channels. During this timeframe the Lumia doesn't switch to the 2.4GHz Band. I have to reboot the Lumia and then the Lumia picks up the 2.4 Ghz Band. Disabling/Enabling the Lumia after a few minutes (when DFS is over) the Lumia switches to 5GHz again. This behavior can may be change depending on the Country Domain ETSI(Europe) or

    U-NII (US).

    Can somebody confirm it ?

    I think Scott meant: “There is no special/new firmware update (just) for Windows Insiders. Firmware updates are not part of the pre-release rings (Source).” Consequently, you three are all correct.

    Toggling flight-mode NOT reactivated Wi-Fi in 5 GHz for me. I need to restart my Lumia 950 XL Dual SIM. The loss of signal is very rapid (some minutes to some hours), this solution is not acceptable for me. Also, I confirm that my router is configured to use channel 1 only so it's seems ok with your details about how to operate Windows 10 Mobile.

    Considering having no problem if I'm using a WiFi in 2,4GHz, it's clairly looks like a problem with drivers/firmware or with Windows 10 Mobile. But on PC, I have no problem with a WiFi in 5GHz so it's maybe more a specific drivers/firmware bug for Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Maybe only with Dual SIM models.

    If this is a problem specific to Mobile, shame Microsoft did not implement a toggle for disable the 5GHz band (on a mobile, speed of the 5GHz band is appreciable but not necessary all the time as on a PC). 

    I'll do some tests with Field Medic.
