Lumia 950XL 5ghz Wifi issue

So I have found when using my 5Ghz N network the phone will lose all WiFi networking.   On first use, it will connect up OK.  But let it sit and come back to it, it will have lost the WiFi network and the ability to see any other WiFi network with "no networks found".  Only a phone reboot will fix it until it happens again.

So far I've experienced it on my Linksys E8350 (supposed AC2400 and MIMO which the 950XL claims to support).  My Wifi router is set for Wireless A or N on 5Ghz, while it can do N, B, or G on 2.4

My workaround is to  only connect to the 2.4Ghz WiFi at this point.

Anyone else experiencing complete WiFi radio failure like this?

Good News. I think I found the source of the 950 XL 5GHz WiFi issue for me, not sure for others or other WiFi problems.

I forwarded all calls to my home phone then disabled the cellular data and SIM toggles to make sure the phone was only using WiFi data.  I found that when the SIM toggle is switched off, the 5GHz WiFi band also disappeared, but the 2.4 GHz band remained visible. This wasn't so apparent because I received a replacement 950, set it up and the 5GHz band stayed visible for 24 hours before it stopped working. However, when it disappeared, I started moving the SIM toggles back to the ON position and noticed the 5GHz WiFi signal reappeared after 30 seconds. I have not noticed any issues with Bluetooth.

I have the dual sim, unlocked 950 XL and have had this particular WiFi problem from the stock firmware all the way to the most recent Fast Ring Insiders' build release. Somehow the SIM activation toggle also disables the ability to detect and receive the 5GHz WiFi band. In conclusion, it's not the router as I'm now more convinced of a firmware bug.

Please, continue and select ‘Me Too’ in that thread…

Then you are subscribed to updates automatically. When anything changes, you get notified by E-mail. Furthermore, only one thread must be updated. Although this happens for many users, please, post the brand/model (and if possible the firmware version) of your Wi-Fi access point there again. That helps, to speed-up reproducing this issue – because I am not able to reproduce it, yet.

    Router: Netgear Nighthawk R7000

    Firmware: 1.0.4.30_1.1.67

I didn't have this problem with 1520 on Insiders build before switching to 950 XL.

    Thanks

Having a similar issue with my 950XL (using the latest firmware and W10 build 10586.29). When I connect to the 5 Ghz band on my Xfinity modem/router, the signal will be fine for a short while but quickly begins to slow down. Eventually my phone loses the connection, and the 5 Ghz band disappears from the list of available networks. Rebooting the phone causes the 5 Ghz band to reappear, but connecting to it again has the same results.

Do not have any of these problems using the 2.4 Ghz network.

I suspect this is indicative of a firmware or driver problem because I do not have the same issues when connecting to the 5 Ghz network with my old Lumia 920 which is running the latest Windows 10 Insider build.
