Quiet Hours in Windows 10 Mobile

Thanks. I may be one of the last hold outs, but I feel the same. When a company continues to be unresponsive on the basics and keeps dropping the ball all we can can do is vote with our feet and walk to the competitor. MS probably thinks they are attentive to customers, but I'm finding their execution very wanting. Take the "Find a setting" search. They didn't thoroughly check their work as is often the case. An insider who works for Microsoft once told me that they slightly understaff on project groups so as to cut costs and increase productivity. No wonder we still see too many oversights.

While waiting for my first Nokia, the first Lumia to come to market, the , I tried an LG. The phone had an advertisement for Bing permanently programmed into the phone which could not be turned off. This was confirmed by my carrier on separate occasions. It would wake us up in the wee hours of the morning. The carriers only solution was to leave the phone off overnight. There went the lifeline of my older parents to me.

Like many other basic problems it was never resolved or ignored for a significant time. Their focus stills seems to be more on feedback concerning features that sell their products rather than increasing funding for making features work.

I've always suspected that they felt their market would be corporation that wanted to provide company phones controlled by their IT department. Corporations are often not that demanding on on the performance of a product so long as it does what they need it to do. Besides they must buy Windows phones to integrate with their company's Windows devices.  I here Apple does a nice job of finnish off their products. Another engineer I know bought all Apple PC's and notebooks while only keeping a Microsoft notebook around for when he was required to use software for a client that ran on that OS. Apple has a bit of a learning curve at first because they have their way of doing things. However, people who use them tell me they are more efficient.

Why is it when I put "Quiet Hours" into "Find Settings" I get "No Results".

I am 62 years old and a was a loyal customer. Ialso have a background in human factor engineering and am a telecommunications engineer. I am WASTING so much time with some basic things. They are oversights made by the project managers at Microsoft. They have a corporate culture at Microsoft and many young people who work for them that do not realize and over look what people really go through after their so called product updates and upgrades: the loss of important features BEING ABLE TO TURN THE SOUND OFF ON YOUR PHONE WHILE YOU SLEEP AND NOT HAVE TO REMEMBER TO TURN IT ON WHEN I WAKE UP SO I DON'T MISS CALLS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO INDIVIDUALS. Oh, I'm all tired of wasting my time reading their PR sounding responses. They are so often long and windy. They should be ashamed of wasting our time this way, but it is no part of their culture, and young people want to play the corporate speak game so they can fit in and not be rejected by their employer or cohorts. I see this too often. By the way, time is all we really have in this life. It's precious.

Thanks for the post. You spoke my mind, except that I think the MS corporate culture has migrated substantially from Bill Gates' times. This includes, in my mind, major shifts in values, priorities, target market, etc. I lost my loyalty last week, when I (hesitantly) switched to Android after having waited (wasted) a year for WP10 to get its acts together. Found myself stuck in WP8.1 with its shrinking app population. Simple things matter to some of us, who I think are being excluded from MS' new market focus. All I was hoping to see restored was the dropped feature of turning the phone to "quite" during busy calendar events. Even my old school Blackberry has this function. First, I thought it was an oversight. Then decided to bring it to MS attention like a loyal soldier, through different means, including this forum. They cared less, and I for one, am gone. Id set it up on my lumia950  a long time ago and having read  your post I   had  a quick look  to  find the setting again I found the answer in one of the first posts on this thread.

 so to  save you time and frustration   launch  Cortana and then  click on the  hamburger icon on the top left    the select  Cortana notebook and the quiet hours option there. once you  select quiet hours and enable it you can then  set the   times you want it to automatically  activate  it and also  edit the breakthrough lists.
