Quiet Hours in Windows 10 Mobile

I recently upgraded my phone from the Nokia Lumia 1020 to the Nokia Lumia 950.  It came preloaded with Windows 10 Mobile.  While I am still learning to navigate the operating system on the phone, although it seems easy since I run Windows 10 on my PC, I am having difficulty with using the Quiet Hours function.  Using Windows 8.1 on my old phone allowed me to set up Cortana to block all calls during times when my calendar had been marked as busy.  This was great as I would just put my classes into my schedule and my students never heard my phone unless it was an emergency.  However, now it seems that the only way to set up Quiet Hours is to manually tell the phone to turn on the QH function or set it up for specific times regardless of my schedule.  It seems funny that this function went backwards when everything else went forward.  Is there any way to do it like I did before?

Hello Nyght,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

I appreciate your patience in this regard.

Quiet hours will turn on automatically at the times you've set. But you can still turn it on manually. When you go to Quiet hours setting it will give many flexible options that allows you to customize Quiet hours accordingly. Sat for example, you can set date on which the phone should enable the quite hours along with Start and End time. Basis to which Quiet hours will turn on automatically.

It also allows you to Edit break-through list. Where you can allow the emergency calls from desired contacts. Moreover Cortana will also send text to contacts who aren't allowed through, saying that I'm busy at the moment.

With regard to the desired task or event sync from the Calendar app, I suggest you to post your feedback using Windows feedback app, which will helps us to look into this with future updates. This will helps us to improve your experience.

Keep us posted if you require further assistance.

HAH, found my own solution, I'm leaving the documentation in case someone else will recognize it.

THE SOLUTION, is the second best-ever solution for implementing QH (The first best-ever will be when MS documents it!!!)

    Step 1

    Go to the notifications Icons,

    Step 2

Push and HOLD the Quite hours notification Icon

    Voila!

If you do not see a QH icon, you can make it appear in the notification list by this one-time action  ...

    Step 1

System Settings (wheel icon)>> Notifications and Actions >> Add or Remove quick actions.

    Step 2

Flick through the list to find the Quiet House Icon. and switch it ON (right column).

Even though Cortana set to always allowed in the background, QH no longer appears under the notebook , as of mid Feb 2018. Was there before.

A little bit of background. I have a Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM. It started with Win8.1 and I upgraded to Win10 over a year ago.  I did a factory reset 2 weeks ago because my 8G memory had less than 100 MB left, and updates were no longer being applied.

After the reset, I had to re-establish my QH, which was available via Cortona's menu of Notebook>>Quiet hours, but QH is no longer available when I try today. The attachment is what I see.   I tried an earlier post in this thread, and have allowed Cortana to always run in the background.

I can think of one thing that might be related to my problem that occurred after the factory reset.  I used storage management to allow all the available options to reside on the SD card, whenever possible.  I did not want to run out of the phone's storage again.  (Talking to myself: should That have caused my problem? Answer: not if the system was smart about what it moved over.  It didn't move everything. Settings>>Storage under "This Device" shows 5.14 GB used of 7.28GB, and my SD Card shows 2.03 GB used of 29.8GB.  Could the system have made a mistake, is there a way to selectively correct it (if it is at all necessary)? All Save Locations are set to my SD card.  Or has QH been moved without fanfare, as usual?)

(More to myself: At least one of these should return up-to-date information, but don't: 1. Cortana - show me my Quite Hours settings, 2. under Cortana skills, a Quiet Hours icon, 3. QH under settings, QH under System, 4. Cortana features being searchable under Cortana - directly or as a Cortana menu option - /currently Cortana searches the web -- not a great place when a feature's implementation has recently changed/.)

Image edited to remove my true-name and email. These elements now appear at the top of the Cortana>>Notebook page. Everything below the deleted email is shown.

Thanks for this suggestion.  I looked to use it on my Lumia 650.  To find it I actually had to route Settings>>System>>Battery>>Battery usage by app>>Cortana (Note: battery usage is a subline not too obvious on the page and after waiting, I had to scroll through the listing to find Cortana and then tap it).  Having found the setting, I changed the setting as suggested.  No joy, the dratted breakthrough list STILL didn't work. To be absolutely certain, I even rebooted the phone to make sure the change had been accepted.  Different architecture of the 650 must explain this.  Sadly I don't live near the Seine, so I guess I'll just have to settle for dumping it in the Navigation (once I have saved my pennies to buy another phone whose OS allows for this important function without hassle). No longer a fan of Windows phones.

Very interesting. The Window cleaner turned up overnight  (26/27 Oct) let's hope this  latest update hasn't  screwed up the suggestions  above. I'm not  going to be able to try it for 8-10 days, but will give it a try on me W10 phone then see if it works. Watch this space!!
