dear Sir/Madam

i am using windows 8 pro and Microsoft keep sending message upgrade windows 8.1 for free and i do not accept but he give me time and remembering to install windows 8.1 and it automatically re-start my pc so, now my pc is windows 8.1 pro build 9600, how long time for free? and why  it say activate. the problem is i don't have lifetime genuine key. and i don't have money to buy the key.. what can i do? please help

Windows 8.1 is a free upgrade to Windows 8.  The edition does not matter so much, just the version (i.e. - PRO doesn't mean much, Windows 8 or WIndows 8.1 does) in your situation.

You had Windows 8 PRO.  You get Windows 8.1 PRO for free.  Depending on how Windows 8 was originally put on the machine (legitimately, of course) would determine whether you have a product key you can copy on paper and put in a safe place or if it is embedded in the system BIOS.

So, if you had Windows 8 PRO and it was a legitimately licensed copy - your Windows 8.1 PRO upgrade was (always will be) free and should not have required any action on your part.

    It is difficult to discern what you are attempting to do with your one-word response (with question mark punctuation) to this 16 month old conversation.

    Are you asking something about "downloading" or sarcastically responding to people asking what they should do about their missing media issues also expressed in this conversation over the last 16 months since the conversation began?

    Refer to your purchase email, invoices, stickers on the machine, use an application to get it from the BIOS, etc.

    No one but you has your product key.
