The classic MSN Money Portfolio Manager will be shut down completely on 22nd December, 2014 - Please act now!

My request last Wed. to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** has gone unanswered. Needless to say, there has been no MS response of management concern for our disappointment and frustration. Other than FT, I only know of Morningside and XLQ that offer data query services. I and many other have to give up on MS and migrate elsewhere. Any recommendations?

I have successfully transferred all my data on both Google Finance and Yahoo Finance and will eventually decide which one I will keep but I must say that I don't miss Microsoft at all even though I was on their platform for the past 15 years. Whenever I buy or sell a stock, I just update both sites in only a few seconds. I can use my iPhone to track my stocks on their respective interfaces. No regrets except that it did take quite a while to transfer my close to 100 stock tracking data. Yahoo offers a 'download to Excel' feature but for an unexplained reason they don't export the quantity of shares you own.  Google does though.

I can't get the new Watchlist to work either. All I get is a Whoops. So much for MSN Portfolio Manager that I've been using for years and all of my data. So, I'm now a MORNINGSTAR.COM user.

Why the change? Normally a conversion to new system is only followed when there are ADDED features and benefits. I see none and in fact I see a huge step backwards. The "old" tool was extremely useful, fast, easy to use, with lots of features. The new tool is no different than dozen other sites - in fact it may be worse.

I didn't get any notification that the old PM was going away and now I have nothing after 15 years of using it. Thanks a bunch Microsoft. Could you at least send me a few emails to notify me of the change or maybe you could have put a popup message when someone opened the old PM to notify them of the upcoming chnage? This really blows! What is my reason to use the new clunky system - NONE!

Totally agree. Some people were speculating that Microsoft dumbed down the site to make it work equally well/badly on all platforms - i.e., tablets, smartphones. No good reason for this big move backward otherwise!

Agree, agree, agree.  Although I was able to import from Portfolio Manager (I just got lucky)..It doesn't work well.  It will take some time if I ever get on to it.  Very disappointed.

Yeah, after many unsuccessful tries I finally got lucky and had my data "migrate" - more or less. So I could see how poorly the new Watchlist works. I'm on Morningstar now. Took a lot of work transferring transactions, but I'm up and running again with a good manager!

Hello MSN Money Portfolio Manager users,

You may have noticed the alert on the old PM page saying that it will be shut down on Dec 22. We are aware that the page was down for several days and users were unable to access their data but the page has been reinstated and users should be able to access their portfolios again. Users should try to migrate their data to the new MSN Money Portfolio/Watchlist before the above date to avoid losing data. Please follow the steps located under How do I import my old lists?

NOTE: You can only import into a Watchlist that has fewer than 250 items. Attempts to re-import lists with more than 250 items will fail. You may want to shrink the size of your existing Watchlist or import into a newly created Watchlist.

If you recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and did not receive all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data, please follow the steps on this article.

If you do not wish to migrate to the new Money Watchlist/Portfolio, you may export your data into an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on Print Portfolio. A table of the data is displayed, select the table (CTRL+A), copy (CTRL+C) and then paste it (CTRL+V) into Excel.
