Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process

Hi,

Whenever I turn on my computer or even restarted it, and then tried to run the command 'chkdsk /r /f', I faced the error 'cannot lock current drive', although there are no other process hare running.

I had to schedule it to be running in the next restart.

When I scheduled it to be running in the next system restart , it was running well when it was restarted.

Threads merged.

I personally don't think you'd gain anything from a scan with UBCD.  We can learn all about the HDD's health by looking at its SMART data.  It may pass a diagnostic test with flying colors, and still have corrupted numerous files (in the past) and/or have many (remapped) bad sectors.

    Looking at your HDD's SMART status, I can see that it had 104 (hex 68) bad sectors which have since been reallocated (see Reallocated Sectors Count).  Since Current Pending Sector Count is 0, all suspected bad sectors have been successfully remapped, probably thanks to an earlier chkdsk /r scan.

    Everything else looks good.  I would suggest keeping an eye on the HDD every once in a while to make sure that it isn't developing more bad sectors (Current Pending Sector Count or Read Error Rate increasing from 0 in the far-right column).

    In case you didn't know this, HDDs are quite sensitive to being jostled while in operation.  Setting a laptop down too hard while it's on are is one the easiest ways to kill a laptop's HDD.  If you need a laptop that can be thrown around, it would be a good idea to upgrade to a SSD, since they have no moving parts.  This will also greatly speed up the laptop since the HDD is the biggest bottleneck in practically all laptops made nowadays.

    Perhaps you're not making best use of the eBay search.  I found all the items you listed, some for lower prices.  Try using search terms like these:

    840 evo 500gb

    850 evo 500gb

    840 pro 512gb

    850 pro 512gb

        Once the results appear, click the Sort dropdown and select Price + Shipping: lowest first.  Right below the dropdown, you should see text appear that says "Shipping to".  Select Yemen.  All the non-international items should disappear.  Please note that there may be a couple of unwanted entries in the search results.  I believe that this is a better tradeoff than entering search terms that are too restrictive, and missing out on better deals as a result.  In the searches I just did, there were several unrelated items that made it into the results because they were SSDs for a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop.

        Regarding the sometimes huge price discrepancies between eBay and Amazon: If you look closely, you'll see that many of the SSDs on Amazon are "on sale" for a discount price, sometimes with significant savings.  The markup on computer parts like SSDs is over 50%, so there is a huge range for sale price, while still allowing the seller to make a profit.  Unlike Amazon, many of the sellers on eBay are selling at full market price, hence the difference.

        Take a look at the crossed out regular price on Amazon for the Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD.  Its regular price is $349.99, but it is currently marked down to $289.99.  Now, here is a listing on eBay for the same item, for $349.99.  Once you add shipping to Yemen, the price goes up to $408.

        Oh, no problem.  It's just a little tough when your questions go out of my areas of expertise and I have to do a little research.  :-)

    Firstly: As said before, I am expecting there is a striking difference between 'Post Code' which is a part of Post of Box, and the postal /zip code.

    Post of Box is personal. However, Postal/Zip code is dedicated for a country, city.

        Sorry if I was not clear.  What you just wrote is correct.  A postal/zip code identifies a city/town/post office, and you indicated that your country does not use them, and eBay lets you leave the Zip Code field blank.  So you're fine there and can forget about that.

        On the other hand, there are two kinds of personal numbers that normally go in the address line (at least in the US).  In the US, you either have a mailbox out by the street that has a number on it, or you rent a slot at the post office, called a post office box (P.O. Box).  This is what the seller would put on the label to ensure that the package would go to you.  I don't know how this works in your country, but any personal identification of that sort that you have should go into the address line so that it gets printed onto the label.

    Secondly: You think that having post code which is a part of Post of Box is very helpful in identified the place of buyer? So, its item purchased will be shipped, and delived to the correct place? I really don't have post code, however, I have friend of mine has, can I use it?

        If your friend is trustworthy with potentially valuable stuff, you could.  If I understand correctly, this "Post of Box" is like our Post Office Box, where a person's mail is held in a special box at the post office for pick-up?

    Thirdly: houses in Yemen are not titled with numbers. Only I can type name of my village in that street address, and since my village is considered as a city with my people, then I think that I should type 'my village' in the city field as well. However, if I wrote a city which is 50Km away from my village, then maybe I will need to go to that city to bring my item.

        Well, that shows up just fine on Google Maps, so I guess it is a good address.  So then, since you don't have a house (or mailbox) number, the local Yemeni Post knows to deliver the package to your house because it has your name on it?  If that's how it works, then you should be fine; I would suggest putting your name, followed by a comma, and then "Al-Qatn" for the Street Address.

    Fourthly: One person working for HP agent in Yemen told me that someday they purchased items at Ebay.com, however, then the Ebay apologised for them and said they don't ship to Yemen, and refunded their money.

        Interesting.  If this was several years ago, eBay may have changed their policy since then.  Everything I have read on the web indicates that eBay supports sellers shipping to Yemen.  It is just up to the individual sellers where they will be willing to send the package.  You see, the sellers don't want to be held liable for a package that never arrives.

    Fifthly: I noticed that the Economy Int'l Shipping is default delivery service of some items. Also, I didn't see any option to change from Economy Int' Shipping to 'Expeted Int'l Shipping or standard Int'l shipping even after I proced to the next step.

    However, on other items I can change delivery sevice::

        Remember that eBay is just a forum where sellers can post items for sale.  There are many businesses and individuals selling on eBay.  What they choose to support (and charge) for shipping is up to them.  If you don't like the lack of a particular shipping method, see if you can find the item sold by another seller.  Also beware of sellers with less than 98% positive feedback.  It is frequently worth paying a few dollars more to buy from a seller with >99.5% feedback that has done >20000 transactions than someone with <95% positive feedback that has done only 500 transactions.

    Sixthly: There's major political upheaval in Yemen right now? Can anything be shipped in reliably right now? Thus, if I'd dared, and purchased the items from Ebay.com, and then my orders hadn't been shipped/ received, then how could I do then??? Is you see it a good idea that I only try a test to purchase a product with a very low price, for instance, $20, and $10 shipping cost. If  the product got received, then I would be purchasing more items while I am in a reliably way?.

        I recently heard about that and was about to mention it.  The continual war in the Middle East is sad.  I hope you stay safe.

        I think it is an excellent idea to buy something inexpensive first.  Long as things don't escalate war-wise, a successful first shipment would be a good indication that future shipments would also succeed.  Do you know where the mail would be imported into your country?  As long as that area stays open and there aren't any tensions between Yemen and the US (or whatever country you're buying from), I would expect imports to reach their destinations.

        The only recourse I can think of if buying from eBay doesn't work, is to get in good contact with someone that is traveling back and forth between your country and the US or Europe, and see if they would be willing to bring your items into Yemen with them.  Or perhaps you could find a store that is already importing things from the US or Europe and have them import some things for you.  Free commerce is something that us Americans take for granted, but probably should not!

    Seventhly: Where ca I find additonal inforamtion? Do you mean with it street address 2?

        In your screenshot above (in question #5), it looks like you click the "Add message" button during checkout.

        Yes, while they won't allow multiple phone numbers in the "Phone" field, you can put it in the "Additional comments to the seller" section.  You could even ask for him to call it so you could speak with him.

    I really found My HP laptop can support installing BlueRay, however, I don't know if any BlueRay drive can be working/compatible with my laptop or there is a specifi part number of BlueRay must be purchased in order to work on my laptop well.

    I really was told  the drive part number is presently 665329-001 found HERE.  TheHP-Compaq  665329-001 SATA Blu-ray BD-R/RE Drive, which was found at myDVDdrives.com. However, mydvddrives.com is not ahuthoriative like eaby.com, amazon.com. Thus, when I looked for that HP-Compaq 665329-001 SATA Blu-ray BD-R/RE Drive at ebay.com, I found zero results, although there are some other ones. Thus, could you please let me know if any BlueRay can be compatible with my laptop or not??

    If I will find LightScribe SuperMulti BlueRay, it would be much better??

    Finally: with respect to the spare parts of my laptop(HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex Entertainment Notebook PC support) Model Number: LM610EA#A2N

    My Battery(HP Pavilion dv6 Battery 6cell), Fan(HP Pavilion DV6-6000 DV7-6000 Fan Heatsink 650797-001 641477-001 665309-001), and Power  Jack(HP PAVILION DV6-6000 SERIES DC JACK WITH CABLE). Could you please address these points for me:

    (A) there are many HP Pavilion dv6 Battery 6cell listed when looking for original genuine  HP Pavilion DV6-6000 DV7-6000 Battery 6cell. So which one is the original, and compatible with my laptop?

    (C) Which is good Fan cooling for my laptop?

    (D) I have Quotation from HP agent in Yemen, however, I really noticed that their prices were high as opposed to the ebay.com For instannce, 

    why is only the price  HP Pavilion DV6 Battery 6cell in the HP agent in Yemen  is much higher than ebay.com, however, Fan cooling fan, and power jack are the same??????? 

    In addition, they willcost me the local shipping fees '$20'(sending the items from capital city of Yemen to my city - a distance of 1000Km)). However, Ebay.com will only cost me one international shipping fee, which is  $16.
