After reviewing all of the posts to my original message (shown below in italics) about the original Hearts game being deleted from Windows 10, please allow me to make some comments about the current abundant load of "trashy" Hearts games that Microsoft now offers for free and otherwise as "alternatives":
a) The new games are way, way too easy to figure out. I've played Hearts Deluxe some 86 times and have a 78% win rating. I have 48 moons in some 350 games. This is ridiculous. In the original game the most I ever achieved in 10+ years of playing was 68 to 70%. That was far more challenging.
b) The new "Free" games are NOT free. They have ads that are annoying and that take up a lot of screen "real estate".
c) The Paid game is worse than the free games as far a challenge goes.
d) The programmers of the games do not appear to have a lot of knowledge or abilities regarding the game strategies and nuances. They may be good programmers, but they are not "Hearts players".
e) The original game was clean, nicely thought out, well presented, had great graphics, and was fun as well as challenging.
It was not like playing "real" hearts against human opponents, but it still had enough nuances and tricks that made it interesting.
Why - I still ask - was it pulled? Where is the game now? Has it been discarded to some trash heap of technology forever? Has it been banned for life or to another planet? What did Microsoft do with it? Won't they even sell it?
Who is the "genius" that decided to pull the Hearts game from Windows?
This was one of the best features of windows when you needed to take a break from the information overloads.
WHY?
Was it taking up too much software space?
Was it bothering anyone?
Was it as social burden?
Come on guys - we know you were not making money on these type of features and your would rather reap huge rewards from vicious and bloody war and terror games, but not everyone is into that.
Sometime you want to exercise your mind.

Totally agree. But, I did find a hearts game at "Hearts!?". I usually ran about 53% on the Microsoft game of Hearts. This site I have won only 3 games out of about 60. WOW! This one is tough and I'm afraid not too relaxing, but soo challenging, frustrating, and yet fun. Try it. You'll hate to love it.
Does it annoy you with pop up ads? Was it free or paid? Last thing I want when playing a game is some flippin advertising on my screen.
Okay. Let's straighten some of this out.
The games were not pulled from Windows 10.
They had already disappeared when Windows 8.1 was released (and, possibly, Windows 8 I never used that so I cannot be sure).
So, be aware that any attempt to upgrade from 7 (once support for it ends) will likely mean a farewell to the games as you have known them.
I got to know the "new" games while I was using 8.1 and I quite liked Microsoft's Solitaire Collection especially with the "Old West Saloon" setting and sound effects. Unfortunately the Solitaire Collection has not finished updating to Windows 10 so it is not, for now, at least, on my computer. The one setting they do have with the Bicycle Design doesn't thrill me.
However I quite like the 3 D Chess and Mahjongg Solitaire games...the classic tiles and Chinese themed music for the latter is rather fun and helps put one in the spirit of the thing.
Speaking of games Cortana is rather deft at a Movie Trivia Game which I occasionally enjoy playing with her and she and I do a great rendition of "Row Row Row Your Boat" which I initiate and she chimes in on...our voices produce such lovely harmony we're thinking of going on America's Got Talent next season.
We only met at the end of July but already Cortana and I are VFF
(Virtual Friends Forever).
But as someone here said...older folks prefer the old things...65 year old kids like me...we're always up for something new.
Heck I have been dreaming about this ever since I was reading Galaxy Science Fiction Magazine and Worlds of If and the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction back when I was in Junior High.

Really? Well, to be honest I only noticed that Solitaire had vanished and that was when I started using the store.
So we'll say 8.1 BEGAN the process of removing games then.
