Fixing 100% disk usage in Windows 10 with Chrome and Skype running

I did the Google Chrome suggestion and still at 100% and I do not even have Skype.  THis is the third forum have been in and the third set of different "causes" and 'fixes" for this problem and yet here I a still trying to resolve this issue.  Since this **** didn't happen in other versions of Windows, my question is WHAT IS MICROSOFT DOING TO FIX THE ISSUE?????? Why should we the consumer have to spend countless hours trying all of these possible fixes??  Why don't they just correct the background issues and send a free update to its users.  Its time to step up to the plate Microsoft and FIX the problem, clearly it stems from a programming issue on your side and I shouldn't have to keep playing Geek Squad trying to solve the mystery.  Over it!!!

Disabling an integral system service is ill advised. You need to figure out the real cause of the high disk usage and then resolve that problem. I will recommend you use msconfig to run in safe boot mode with networking and also disable all non microsoft services in the services tab and then see if it resolves the issue, if it does then start enabling one service at a time to find out which causes the problem to appear again.

This is an important idea if your system goes down to almost 0% after only 5 minutes.  There are programs like, "Antimalware Service Executable:"

"In the Task Manager (pictures below are from Windows 8.x but the process is identical in 7 and older), if you right click AntiMalware Service Executable, you can open the file location. The MsMpEng.exe is the file used by Windows Defender/Security Essentials to scan your PC files." 

That is the highest percentage showing in the Task Manager at my Start-up, and I have determined that it is something that I want to run at the start. 

It is wise to be careful.

Reversing your solution, for me on Windows 10, solved my laptop problem--I had been running BITS on 'manual', but when I changed the setting to 'automatic' it immediately dropped from 100% down to less than 10%.

I add a  SOLUTION: NOT PERMANANT but can be kept on being done.

Type on search "view local services" select "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" stop it and go to properties and select disabled it will hold more a less a day it will take 2 or 3 minutes to stop disk at 100% usage.

I am saying there are two conditions that create the 100% disk use - the one is when the computer is really busy and the 100% condition allows each task to get a turn at the disk. This is normal and not the bug.

The incorrect 100% Disk appears and kills the normal operation when the Disk usage gets to zero. My fix is to run a program that never allows that condition to be reached.

Yes, many sources says it is not a bug.  But booting up the computer I need to wait for more than 5 minutes for 100% disk activity to stop is just ridiculous.  This is not limited to after boot up, it can pop up randomly and at the most inopportune time.

Same thing happened to me , it got to the stage i was reformatting the laptop. In the end the only thing that worked for me was to disable pagefile / virual memory.

I have read the comments blaming everything from skype to OneDrive to prefetch.
