March Windows 8.1 update broke Realtek I2S audio

Funny how you say its a Samsung issue.  Everything worked fine until I installed Windows updates in March.  Guess Samsung codes for MS now....

I too have tried several drivers both from Intel and Realtek. And nothing works after the reboot.  For now all i am doing is uninstalling the sound device when i need to reboot.  Huge PITA but at least it works.  

As a last ditch effort i am digging though a pile of DVDs we have at work hoping to find a Windows 8.1 install that is older.  I will update this thread again once i have found an ISO that works

Actually if you where going to blame anyone it would be Realtek and Intel for bad driver. I have tried contacting them about it but neither has gotten back to me chip manufacturers are responsible for there own drivers not Microsoft not apple not even the device manufacturer

this is not  a MSoft issue. this is a Samsung.

without starting a mac vs. pc argument, one thing mac did better was making hardware and software together.

MSoft started with their surface tablet (I bet their surface and win 10 is tested before release).

Issue lies with Samsung. Since march (now June) they didn't update sw update. I checked earlier. Not sure if Samsung knows how to program or if they rely on others to make the drivers they package.

Also this is their 5 series. they are on the 7 series or more (7 series i see is touch screen issues).

I have tried contacting intel. they redir back to samsung. i tried talking to realtek. they were nice. gave me the latest driver (newer than samsung but same issues). Realtek new more on this tablet than samsung (clovertrail chipset).

For now i use a usb headset. others use  bluetooth. There are adapters on amazon that plug a usb but offer stereo jacks. takes a usb slot. a powered usb hub will help and preserve battery.

I am doubtful Samsung will fix this. maybe they'll make a win 10 driver or wait till someone makes one for them.

till then we can maybe downgrade to stable win 7 or stick on 8 nagging jump to 8.1 or 10.

The sad thing is this was my first (and based on reputation and this experience, my last) Samsung Tablet/pc.

For your information, I have installed every single Windows Update individually until the last one remaining was the upgrade to Windows 8.1. 

Prior to the Windows 8.1 upgrade, with ALL the updates available for Windows 8 installed, I had no issue at all. I was able to reboot at will and audio was working fine.

AS SOON as I tried to install Windows 8.1, the update failed and then reverted back to the previous version. THE ONLY WAY to successfully update to WIndows 8.1, is to uninstall Realtek I2S audio driver PRIOR to upgrading to Windows 8.1 but than I have no audio....if I reintall the driver after the WIndows 8.1 upgarde, I do have audio but on next reboot, it fails again and still reverts back to previous version.

So it is quite clear that issue now resides within Windows 8.1 upgrade itself. 

It has now been 2 weeks without a single reply fron anyone at Microsoft, this is surely not the way to go...

NOTE: Prior to March updates I had same Realtek I2S audio driver running under Windows 8.1 flawlessly... it is ONLY after doing the March updates that 1st reboot failed. I then restarted from scratch and now, issue reappears as soon as I try to upgrade to 8.1 (which I guess now includes the latest updates...)

It will be the same issue with windows 10 I installed the preview and has the same issue
