I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

Thank you.

I've not tested personally but it is possible to manually allow the secdrv.sys service to start and run.

The method is described on the Microsoft site.

Microsoft also recommends to stop the service when no more necessary.

See here if it helps :

I have to wonder, if turning that service on is a such a huge security risk, how is it any different than two months ago when we were able to use it to play our games?

Much much less than crossing a road by foot, I'm sure.

Typical of our times : Do it at your own risk !

    OK, Mr. Microsoft Support Engineer,

Hundreds of us bought Microsoft's promise that our favorite game would work on Win 10.

Age of Mythology Gold is listed as "Compatible No Action Required", here:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=Microsoft%20Age%20Of%20Mythology%3A%20Gold&vendor=Microsoft&Locale=1033%2C2057%2C3081%2C4105%2C16393&ModelOrVersion=1&BreadCrumbPath=Age%20of%20Mythology&LastSearchTerm=Age%2Bof%2BMythology&Type=Software&tempOsid=Windows%2010

And you offered assist to fix this problem almost 2 moths ago -

So when are we going to get Microsoft's fix to this not "compatable software" incompatability?

We will accept the correct driver, or a workaround, or a firm promise date to one of those things, but we will not accept an apology or a lame excuse for yet another Microsoft OS promise, unfulfilled.

It would appear that once again (as has always been since the days when "Windows isn't done till Lotus won't run"), Microsoft is still better at breaking stuff that making valuable improvements.

This is so great - are we enjoying our Windows 4, all over again, or what?!

Share all the general dissatisfaction with Microsoft over this but... I've managed to get both AOM and AOMTTE working. Neither would run from their shortcuts and still won't but in desperation I tried opening AOM from the start menu by right clicking and running as administrator and hey presto! it ran. I then pinned the AOMTTE shortcut to the start menu and did the same thing - also ran. Go figure. I should add that I had previously added them to my steam library without success. I have no idea how or why this worked but might be worth a try for those who are desperate.
