I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

Thank you.

I was able to play AoM on my Windows 7 until a security fix was installed by Microsoft, KB3086255.  They provided a solution on article MS15-097, which was to use the DOS command prompt at elevated level, with text they provided, to turn on or off the service to the third party driver secdrv.sys

Perhaps that would work for you.

I also rolled back to 7, which worked until security update kb3086255 on 9/9/15.  Microsoft provided a solution to that, however, in article MS15-097.  yaay!

My problem now is that I have a program that "I PAID FOR" but cant use. I cannot return it for several reasons:

    1. I no longer can find the receipt
    2. I bought it from Office Max over 30 days ago

I probably would have been able to return it but my partner inconveniently needed brain surgery and, silly me, I felt that deserved my attention more than getting a game to work on my computer. Now Microsoft is refusing to compensate me for my loss. Granted it is only $20 but still, they failed to make Windows 10 compatible with THEIR OWN PRODUCT.  Seems like a lot of bull to me and bad customer support in my book.

Tried compatibility mode without any luck (several different versions).  I can watch the task manager, aomx.exe comes up and then it's gone.  If the solution is to switch to Steam I just hope THAT version will work and you'd think those of us who PAID for the previous version could at least get a discount on the Steam version?
