Age of Mythology - Windows 10

I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

After hours of researching & testing, I have found a solution that works for my computer. Thought I'd share it as I understand the toil of not being able to play such a great game!

Essentially, the problem was with secdrv.sys, a copy-protection file that AoM relies on. Apparently support for it on my Windows 8.1 OS was lacking when running this 2002-released game. I used this command in the command prompt (run as Admin):
```
sc config secdrv start=auto
```

i didn't read all the comments im sure someone had sujjested it,

if your computer is capable of running win10 when im sure it could handle aom or any other simular game in virtual mode

just install virtual drive with win xp and play games from it

I actually contacted a rep from Microsoft about a week ago to see if they could fix it. His solution was to contact the developer. Which is exactly what I was doing. Maybe Ensemble will be of more help, and actually remember that they made the game.

This is the Win10 gaming forum, and unfortunately your fix does not apply to Win10.

This is because DRM Blocking is built into Win10, not installed via Windows Updates.

Win7/8/8.1 can use the commands that enable/disable the DRM Blocking update.

The update can also be uninstalled.

I left a link to my more detailed post regarding DRM Blocking in my first post on page 7,

and other posters have also described the evil MS has foisted on the gaming community on previous pages.

With Win10 the only fix for games that are affected by MS DRM Blocking malware is to use a noCD fix.

Some games have an official patch that removes the DRM . This is the best option when available.
- When a thread has people posting other issues or the thread gets long, as this one has, the original
issue can get lost in the mix.

eg- Some people have been having issues with Steam, or other download versions. These versions have their own issues, but are not affected by MS DRM Blocking malware.

DRM Blocking only affects disk based games that use some versions SafeDisk (and maybe SecuROM).

When a game has the secdrv.sys file on the games disk it will be blocked.
- There are also various versions of DRM that have an issue with 64bit Windows. Including 64bit XP.
As was explained on page 6. When a game has this issue a noCD fix is also necessary in most cases.

[ btw - I had to laugh at the poster who was afraid to use a noCD fix because they had kids using the machine.

As if a PC malware/virus could affect their kids. Cute....

I have about 70 noCD fixes . Most have been on my machines for many years.
