Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.
I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.
I also have this same problem with black and white 2.
I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.
Can you provide any suggestions please.
Thank you.

Thanks Kathy07
I have tried that as well but it just throws up an error, I have now removed the offending update KB3086255 and all is working again, it may be a security risk but that is a chance I am prepared to take.
I have now found that after the last update to windows 7 this and all my other games are now working correctly again without having to enable secdrv.
Before I upgrade to Windows 10 again can anyone confirm if Microsoft have finally seen sense and made these older games playable on Windows 10?.

[ Solved ] Age of Mythology and Age Of Empires - III are not working in Windows 10 64 - bit computer.
I've Age Of Empires - II with all new expansions and Age of Mythology and Age Of Empires - III.
Age Of Empires - II with all new expansions is working on Windows 10 32 - bit and 64 - bit but,
Age of Mythology and Age Of Empires - III are not working in Windows 10 64 - bit computer.
I installed all the above in steam.
I installed windows 10 32 bit and made a backup copy of this folder [ C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common ]
and then removed windows 10 32 bit and installed windows 10 64 bit and copied the files
to this folder [ C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common ]
using Gandolf Windows 10 PE boot USB drive image.
Age of Mythology is now working but AOE - III is still not working.
Right click on Windows 10 start menu and select " Programs and features " then click on " Windows components "
and then install
tick
and
and restart pc and aoe 3 works.
forget the steam, it's the same riskful!
i download the steam, get aoe2 the forgotten empires/FE,
while playing, i keep receive security notice from my anti-virus soft that is McAfee
said there is un-wanted program download coming, try to get in my computer and McAfee
has quarantine it automatically for me. this will only happen when i open steam and playing that game,
i got "visit" by un-wanted program 7 times when playing aoe2 hd FE around 4 hours,
2 hours in morning and maybe 1.8 in afternoon that day.
Then i uninstall steam in the same day that i install it.
i don't know is someone same as me , is that the problem of the steam
or the game or the anti-virus?
But if you tell me to get steam again to play my AOM gold edition purchased from my local game store
, i just can't , because i won't take risk.
why i buy AOM GE disc, not only the legal way for game
and also risk-free, safe, game from trusted Microsoft.
Just hope Microsoft will do something for those old games.
