Age of Mythology - Windows 10

I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

is there any fix for this game? I don't want to download anything extra just to put my computer at risk for a old game that should be running on windows 10.

I followed your instructions but it still doesn't work.  I double click the short cut on my desktop and the screen goes black for 2 seconds, then reverts back to the desktop (after I click "allow publisher to make changes")

Brief Steps

1. In folder "Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\gfxconfig" - Copy the contents of "geforce3.gfx" to the file i845.gfx using a notepad. Take a backup of the files before you copy.
2. Create a Shortcut of the "aom.exe". In the properties of the shortcut, edit the Target file line, add after the quote "xres=640".

p.s. The quotes should not be used when actually making the edits.

How do I do this step?

Copy the aom.exe from the downloaded file and replace the one in the game directory.
