Age of Mythology - Windows 10

I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

    Start Age of Mythology with /safemode in the Launch Options for Steam or the shortcut Properties for non Steam. Working for me right now.

    I see it's a good reason not to install the Windows 10 Extended Consumer Beta. If their own games aren't even supported from the check-list, I am not willing to switch over. I mainly use my PC for some internet and mainly gaming. I already switched from the excellent Win7-64bit Pro to the more crappy Win8.1-64bit Home with it's crappy metro interface because I bought a prebuild PC for the first time. I am not willing to now "upgrade for free" to Win10XC Beta because probably most of my games will not work. MS again introducing new security features, a new store, a new directx, a new this a new that. All of these reduces my confidence in MS more and more with each bit of information I get. Will Win10 be the WinME of the 64-bit consumer OS? Not the instability but with all the upgrading and all the software that will simply not work anymore this might be even a bigger step like DOS to Win or even Win 16-bit (Win95/98/ME) to Win 32-bit (XP....). But that's because I'm just being sceptical.

    I think you will find that browsers have some new security features which will block downloads from sites

    that are 'reported' as being suspect (Firefox also blocks the downloads, but has only recently begun doing so).

    [ EDIT: 24 May '16 - Mega Games now has a disclaimer regarding Firefox trying to block downloads ]

    • With firefox the message relates to PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) vs  malware.

    You can get PUPS from many sources including such things as Adobe Flash Player

    ( Chrome is set for automatic download and you have to clear the tick box to prevent it installing ).

    Due care an diligence is best practice with any download.

    [EIDT: There may also be other software on this site that does contain PUP's, but I've never encountered

    a noCD with anything of this nature.]

    • Considering that sites such as this have enemies in the industry I would not be surprised their downloads

    are reported  as being suspect.

    Having said that. I can't give any guarantee of safety, but I did download one AOM fix that suits Patch 1.05

    and scanned it with Avast, and it came up clean.

    I've been using noCD's from this site for about ten years with no problems, and most of the noCD fixes

    were created long ago. Generally within a month of a games release.
