I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

Thank you.

I was able to play AoM on my Windows 7 until a security fix was installed by Microsoft, KB3086255.  They provided a solution on article MS15-097, which was to use the DOS command prompt at elevated level, with text they provided, to turn on or off the service to the third party driver secdrv.sys

Perhaps that would work for you.

And there is another issue that I can't see in this topic: Age of Mithology's setup doesn't work in Windows 10, so I can't install, repair or uninstall it!!! (In Win 8.1 x64 Works fine).

    Hi wmcole,

As a french, I didn't know the "F U" expression and it did me laugh.

But thinking of me as a Windows 10 user, I don't laugh anymore. I totally agree with you. Inappropriate "canned answers" (another expression I learned here) are intolerable. We are not totally stupid !

We should have been warned. I'll go further : we should have been offered a technical solution. Mini virtual play machine, mock secdrv.sys drivers... Something.

It is very far-fetched that Age Of Empire 2 (from Microsoft !) cannot be used anymore !

I was a lucky one and upgraded from 7, I have now rolled back and unless many improvements are made to 10 I will stick with 7.

I got the program to work by disabling digital signed drivers enforcement. Below are instructions for windows 8.1 but I was able to use the steps to disable it on windows 10 as well.

    http://dottech.org/130197/how-to-bypass-digital-signed-driver-message-windows-8-8-1/

But that's not really a satisfactory solution either, from a security perspective. Also how does the 64 bit driver get installed if you don't have it already, or is this a solution for 32 bit Windows only (or am I missing something)?
