Windows Update issue - Definition Update reoffered

See "Manually download the latest updates", and read the rest of the web page too.  See if manually downloading the "Definitions" breaks the loop?

Did anyone try my earlier suggestion to hide the update?

If you switch off Automatic Updates and set them up to not download and only notify you then it is possible to hide a troublesome update.  After doing such a thing you may return to your normal Automatic Update settings.

This is the one update that I would hide if it was my decision (as it is the oldest update).

I am so glad to see all of this,

I have tried to "fix"  4 computers with this problem to no avail

Tired of trying.  now I feel I do not have any Https sites that are secure.

I did refresh and it still did nothing on one computer, Had win8.1 it went back to win8 with Norton antivirus.

I am lost now.

Same problem here too. 

Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

Issue started the same way with 2 Windows Defender updates offered at the same time. 

They seemed to install, but now checking for updates give the same 2 sets of updates repeated one after the other over and over again.

I did a full Disk Cleanup with System Files cleaned as well.

Ran all the Microsoft Troubleshooters with full aggressive Windows Update cleanups.

Nothing has worked so far.

These same 2 updates are the repeating ones:

Can someone at Microsoft help fix this? 

I have this on 2 different Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit computers now (my home PC and my work PC).

For the record ... I appreciate all the help these forums can deliver, but PA Bear ... really ???

When the computer was purchased .... alternate browsers .... norton's installed, flash installed ... what AV (not defender) have you and expiry date on subscription ??????????

I do realise that sometimes what we have running can upset things, and everyone has a different tweak here and there ... Windozers is not the only poster here with the problem ....

In this household there are 3 systems running 8.1, 64bit, all with varying software installed, in fact one that has only the OS, Office 2010, Defender, connection software installed ... that's it - and all three systems are having the looping definition updates occurring. We have run the suggested "fix" on all three machines - and guess what ??? - it doesn't work.

Thank you JD-1991 - an announcement from someone, anyone to let us know that they know there is a problem and they are working on it would be appreciated.

Windozers - just in case you aren't familiar with these forums  - I questioned PA Bear MS MVP once when he submitted a list of items to me to gather information on another question I had posed in here.  I eventually found out he there was reason for his request and with his and Susan Bradley's help was able to find a solution to that problem.   So, if you will, hang in there and provide as much info as you can - he is here to help.  :)
