"Error 1" when installing "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework

Hello,

I see a C:\Windows\System32\catroot and wondered if this is about WU as well, sicne you had me rename catroot2 near the start of this thread? 

I am now receving "Error 1" when installing "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB3037581)"

Any ideas?

    Did it crash when you ran Internet Explorer with no add-ons?

    Why have you set your Home Page to use About blank? Was your chosen Home Page being hijacked?

    Is there a way I can save the list of Add-ons to a file then post it here?

    Open Manage Add-ons and place the cursor on Toolbars and Extensions. Use the Scroll to change Currently loaded add-ons to All add-ons. Place the cursor on the first item in list of Toolbars and Extensions (Adblock Plus in the image below) and select keyboard shortcut Shift+End to select all items, right click and select Copy. Paste into any Word or other text file. Repeat the procedure for Search Providers.

    Yes it still crashed when I had no add-ons.  I tried to download http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 and it crashed right after I said "Save"

    When a new tab is opened, open The new tab page.  It is NOT set to about blank. And IO have it that way by choice - never had a browser hijack
