I suggest you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool in normal mode and copy and paste the results in a reply for further analysis:

Run the Tool and when it completes click the Copy button, open a text file like Word or Notepad and select Edit, Paste. You can paste directly into a reply here. Open a reply, right click and select Paste.

1. Any time I use Internet Explorer to download a file - IE crashes then restarts - asks about resuming the prior session.  Would I need to use Tools > Internet Options > Advanced then Reset then select Delete Personal Settings then click ok?  Or any simplier ways?  I use Roboform toolbar and Google search toolbar and would prefer not to have to reload those.

How often does Internet Explorer crash?

The quickest way to access Internet Options is to click the cog ( the icon on the far right of the second row in the image below:

Of course you may have your Internet Explorer Home Page set up to not the cog. In that case select Start, Control Panel, Internet Options.

If you have the cog click it and select About Internet Explorer. What version do you have?
