"Error 1" when installing "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework

Hello,

I see a C:\Windows\System32\catroot and wondered if this is about WU as well, sicne you had me rename catroot2 near the start of this thread? 

I am now receving "Error 1" when installing "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB3037581)"

Any ideas?

    Device Manager

      Portable devices

        G:

          "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration

            information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

      DVD/CD-ROM drives

        hp DVD RW AD-7250HD

          "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration

            information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

    I don't use EasyCleaner - but why remove both that and PT X?

    Will do the chkdsk c: /r tonight -since it's going to take several hours...

    For both problem devices type Device Manager in the Search box above the Start button and press ENTER. Locate and right click on the device and click on Uninstall in the drop down list. Restart your computer.

    I don't use EasyCleaner - but why remove both that and PT X?

    They have registry cleaner and optimiser components. Both interfere with the proper operation of the operating system and are quite possibly contributing the problems you have. It is software you just don’t need.

    Will rebooting after uninstalling - reinstall the correct drivers? 

    1. also since my problems have been with installing .Net updates - and me having unlimited free internet - would it be brst just to remove .NET and then install fresh?  Instead of messing with device drivers and doing chkdsk and whatever else will be suggested later?

    It may or may not but that question is not an issue as they are not presently installed.

    I cannot give you a definitive answer.

    Your computer has not been maintained properly so I am trying to rectify this short coming.

    is a snippet of the device manager - I just want to confirm that I do need to Uninstall both devices. 

    I'll try doing the "chkdsk c: /r" tonight.....  Have to go shopping in the AM so a lot of time for the computer to do a disk check....
