After installation of optional update KB3022345, executing sfc.exe /scannow throws the following result message (see attached screenshot):
I can reproduce this on three different machines, all Win 8.1, all fully patched, they are a mix of 64 and 32 bit systems.
The error disappears on all my machines when I uninstall the KB3022345 update.

I appreciate you are trying to help me, but as I said in my opening post I 'fixed' this by uninstalling an optional update.
As this occurred on three different machines and could be corrected on all machines by uninstalling this update my guess would be there is something wrong with the update.

I thought it was you I saw in a related thread! Good to see you're still kicking - even if it cost me a rib! My Compaq 7470, Win 98, finally just had unexplainable freezes & the monitor, too, kept going off. I was only using it once/twice year by then for top secret stuff. On 10/31/14, I purchased this Dell Inspiron 3542, Win 8.1, & am amazed how nice things are, especially with FIOS instead of dial-up. Right after I got my top secret stuff over to here via USB Flash drive - the darn 7470 started working perfectly again, monitor & all - but I'm still pleased as punch.
I'm glad to be rid of KB3022345 & KB3068708. But I took a whole slew of optionals/importants in with them. It's on my to-do list to look more carefully through their "more informations" to see which to un-install. All the scores & scores of criticals came in so nicely, I had lowered my guard on the others. Good to see you out of hibernation!
That top secret stuff will get you every time. <wink>

It's easy to be pleased considering the OS jump I've done. I do have issues in Event Viewer to research. Already two have been solved. This one shows up often in Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance/Operational-Performance & will take a lot of work...
The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.
Reason : CPU resources are over-utilized.
Diagnosis : A sharp degradation in Desktop Window Manager responsiveness was observed.
...Apparently, Dell &/or MS has put a trillion apps into Startup & into Services: 71 background processes are running right now & 95 services!
