KB3022345 causes error in sfc.exe

After installation of optional update KB3022345, executing sfc.exe /scannow throws the following result message (see attached screenshot):

I can reproduce this on three different machines, all Win 8.1, all fully patched, they are a mix of 64 and 32 bit systems.

The error disappears on all my machines when I uninstall the KB3022345 update.

Thank you for responding.

I appreciate you are trying to help me, but as I said in my opening post I 'fixed' this by uninstalling an optional update.

As this occurred on three different machines and could be corrected on all  machines by uninstalling this update my guess would be there is something wrong with the update.

Good work all of you. ;)  I'm on win7 and soon win10.  I ran sfc and found the KB3022345 mentioned as the problem.  I uninstalled it and sfc ran with no error report.  My system booted up faster, and runs better now.  I remember with the date of the updates this was included, my system failed to reboot and had to do a repair boot that reverted back to before the updates being applied.  I ran the update again and they installed and system reboot fine, but system was slow to boot after that and had issues when pausing flash movie player in web browser and trying to start again later.  System would lock up and require a hard boot.  After removal of KB3022345, my system is back to working order and just as fast as it had been prior to this hot fix update that I feel was tracking everything on my system and reporting it back to MS for their win10 roll out... but also causing system slow down to encourage the update.  Just a guess, but pretty sure I'm correct in my guess.

Thanks for the feedback. This is a complicated  problem with many variations. It will eventually be necessary to reinstall the update or it's equivalent but now is not the time to suggest this course of action.

I notice you have A Windows 7 computer and this a Windows 8 forum. When you post to these forums it helps to keep to the forum for your operating system to ensure you get the best advice.

    Gerry,

Since my "much earlier" post in this thread may have gotten lossed in the shuffle, I would just like to say again that in my case I got no Genuine Advantage error. I post this so that it will be highlighted that perhaps it isn't only a GA problem.

The installation of the patch went well as far as I could see.

I turned off my machine after the patch had been installed. When I returned and turned my machine on, I got a STOP screen. The STOP screen stayed on the screen only a split second until it got to the screen where it asked me if I wanted to do a Startup Repair or Normal Startup. I chose the Startup Repair.

After this was successful, I hid the patch and have not had any problems since.

I have not ever had a STOP screen since I got the machine several years ago. I have Manual Updates but always will install the update unless I get prior warning about a patch.

My machine is a Toshiba Satellite U845. Windows 7 (SP1).

Apology to Gerry Cornell and Susan Bradley. The posts from each of you above my May 23 post to you both was due to a misunderstanding. The last forum I participated in more than a year ago only emailed notifications of comments related to my particular contributions. So when I received inbox notification of your 2 posts I thought they were from 2 moderators questioning the utility of my post... which I then tried to clarify. When I later had time to examine the thread, I realized you were talking to each other, not ganging up on my post...not suggesting my issue is too rare and untested to be worth reporting, or that I should have been doing more weighty things such as Recovery or Install, Upgrade and Activate. Please feel free to remove my inappropriate post, and this retraction of it. Thanks again for the forum!
