How To Remove Windows 10 Upgrade from Windows Update

I don't want to upgrade to Win 10 (from Win7) just yet but when I run Windows Update,  the Windows 10 upgrade starts. I can see there are many Win7 updates waiting too but cancelling the Win10 upgrade means no other updates get installed.  I've uninstalled KB2990214 and have rerun Windows Update (as suggested in other threads) but starting Windows Update still starts the upgrade. 

Is there any way to totally remove the Win10 upgrade so I can do the rest of the Win7 updates?  When I look at updates I've hidden,  I can see "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home" and it's not selected.  Thanks in advance!

So, I understand that you are constantly getting asked to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7, although you don't want to. Well, I have also had this problem, and I may be able to help. Although, it may be easier now that it was in July.

So, since it is September now, almost into Autumn, the Windows 10 Upgrade should be over now. The Windows 10 free upgrade should no longer be present on Windows 7, since it should have gone away on July 29th of this year. However, feel free to respond back if this is not that the case with your Windows 7 device.

Even tho you say that Win 10 should not be present, every time I go to do an Update it says it is downloading Win10 and I have to come out of the update.  I have done everything like removing update KB3035583, running disk scan and cleaned up system files by looking for the large Win 10 update file.  Yet I still can't update my system.  I am using Windows 7 which was a big enough upgrade for me after using XP for years.  I use Win 10 at work...I do not like it and want to keep Win 7 on my personal computer.  But I would like to get my updates without Microsoft constantly trying to download 10 on my laptop.

Since MS automatic updates caused these problems, don't count on it to resolve them.

Turn automatic updates off.

Use either or both the following programs to scan your computer for missing

updates

Follow the post scan report instructions on how to access the pertinent update

links and install them manually.

It is a little more effort but it beats reinstalling your operating system or

wasting your time on remedies (as some have suggested here) that do not address the fact that you cannot 'uninstall' a Windows 10 update that was never 'installed' (failed) in the first place....

Google these free programs:

Belarc Advisor.-make sure you allow it to download the most up-to-date definitions.

Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2. (MBSA)-make sure you indicate the proper scan settings.

Run the scan to find out what updates are missing from your system.

In this case, self reliance is the key to success. Just do it and repeat the process weekly. (p.s. In addition to the information about your system's windows update status, both these programs supply a wealth of other information that you will find

interesting.)

Your reply does not help the poor souls who have this problem.

All can be solved with GWX Control Panel. (Search for IT)

It does for me and works GREAT and I have got rid of The Spying Windows 10 Program and Updates and update Windows 7 Ultimate all the time with not a worry.
