KB3038314 Fails to Install get the error 80092004.

Un-installed IE 11 and installed the versions 9, 10 and then 11. Everything works fine now.

I'm glad they finally got it fixed and is working for some people. Yeah, when I tried to install KB3038314 before the uninstall, it failed a few times. That's when I uninstalled again, after reading that there had been updated versions of the update.

But, now that they have this fixed, and have released the may patches, I checked my updates again and nothing was there, so everything was up to date. Then for the heck of it, I ran disk cleanup and re-ran windows update. Guess what popped up and installed successfully again?

I would like to know if this patch has been installed or not. I think this is very important. I should probably and more than likely will start a thread about that soon.

I am having the same problem.  I installed IE 11  a few months ago and very quickly had to uninstall it

because it simply did not work correctly.  I downloaded it again in May 2015. Everything was ok until I tried to install this same important security update and couldn't. Error code 80092004. I tried the same "fix it tool" and all the other Microsoft suggestions. Still unable to install what is supposed to be an important security update. I feel somewhat vulnerable and wonder if I should uninstall IE 11 and go back to IE 10 for which I was able to install all the security updates.  How could this still be an "unknown error"  for windows update?

Having the same issue also Lenovo 64bit. Enterprise Windows install (not sure if that makes a difference).

IE shows version KB3058515 which would be after the one mentioned here. This is also the update that is trying to install and failing giving me the same error code 80092004. I am assuming from what I have read this is due to me upgrading to IE11 instead of going through Windows updates to do so. Will have to see if removing it and letting Windows updates automatically do it helps any.

Removing IE makes the error go away. I guess Firefox or Chrome would be the fix.... too bad this is on a lab machine and I need IE to work also.

Oops spoke too soon. Windows updates showed Green (no needed updates) briefly. Now it is back to the same error.

Guess I can just start re-building the image I just thought I had completed.... and see if letting Microsoft automate all the updates makes things go smoother.
