KB3038314 Fails to Install get the error 80092004.

KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install.  This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11.  I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail.  The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday).  Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?  After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error.  I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi, everybody!

Try to remove everything third-party brazer, dump the IE parameters by default as kb3038314 forbids installation of third-party searchers.

    Sorry, for machine translation.

    What is "brazer"?

By the way. If I install IE11 (from IE8) before installing KB3038314 ... IE shows under version info KB3038314, too, although it is neither in the history nor in the system control under programs / installed updates.

This is because the Internet Explorer installer downloads updates for IE automatically. And since they are not installed through Windows Update, the updated version can only be uninstalled by uninstalling IE itself.

Anyone who has already installed IE11 w/ KB3038314 and gets the error:

    • Remove IE11.
    • Install IE10.
    • Install IE11 from the offline installer with switch /update-no
    • Install remaing updates through Windows Update, including KB3038314.

I spent the whole yesterday to reinstall from scratch my father's PC with w7homePrem 64. The first step was to set google as single and only search engine in IE (removed Bing and prevent sites to suggest other engines) to circumvent the weird answers from Bing when searching .... Firefox. Step 2 was to install Firefox.

Today he gets this error, although the KB3038314 lists installed, WU always tries to reinstall and fails.

Please MS, fix this and STOP making our computers YOUR battle field againts google or others.
