KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install. This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11. I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail. The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday). Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution? After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error. I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

WHat about the hint, tha IE Shows Versionnumber ending in KB3038314
Another 500MB that didn't help :-(

OK, so I have been messing around trying to get this to work.
This is what I have found ... This seems to be related somehow to KB3021952.
I remember back in the day that sometimes updates would get corrupted and to fix it you would have to delete the temp downloads. So I went and did a disk cleanup of system files. The hiding the update tips made me think of this. So after a cleanup, I now had 3 updates, two went fine but KB3038314 failed. Reboot, disk cleanup (windows update cleanup), check for updates, 2 available KB3021952 and KB3038314. Install KB3021952, run update cleanup (which is always 20.5MB), check for updates and KB3021952 is back. You can see in the screenshot below that the highlighted row is the first successful install of KB3021952. At first I thought it was KB3038314 patching KB3021952, but then after just installing 1952 then running cleanup, 1952 popped back up.
I have downloaded the standalone KB3038314 and tried several times, several different ways.
Same Issue here, and I have System Center Endpoint Protection. If it doesnt work with their own AV, it is not an AV issue.

Great post, somebody should take the "trouble" at Microsoft Support and reproduce the error. It is very simple:
I have tried this two times, clean install, no 3rd party software - no antivirus etc. - only win7, minimum necessary drivers for connecting to the network and all updates installed but this update remains failed forever.
I feel the Microsoft responders are fooling us instead of reproduce the failure in their lab, analyse and give us a working solution.

I think I found the issue, I looked further down the history and found this ... we have two KB3038314 updates, one for IE8 and one for IE11.
