I posted a solution.
KB3038314 Fails to Install get the error 80092004.
KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install. This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11. I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail. The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday). Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution? After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error. I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

2015-04-17T23:43:20+00:00 Same to me, mate.
I just made a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit in my SSD and the only update that didn't work was this one (KB3038314).
I hope someone finds out what's going on and if it really is a faulty update, I expect Microsoft corrects it soon.

2015-04-18T00:07:13+00:00 I tried your method, but after I hid the update and searched for updates for the second time, it didn't find any new update available (the first time it found two updates that were successfully installed).
When I restored the faulty update, I got the very same error message again after trying to install it once more.
Anyway, thanks for your help.

2015-04-18T00:17:02+00:00 No, it is actually a different update, for IE11 this time. First time, IE9. Don't ask why, I don't know.
You need to read my directions and do the same thing again. Hide it. Check Updates. Unhide. Check Updates.
