KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install.  This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11.  I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail.  The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday).  Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?  After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error.  I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

It looks as if this is only a problem with IE11, is that correct?

I have IE9 on my machines and have been offered this update but haven't yet installed any of this week's updates due to my "wait and see" approach, but I have noticed that on switching on my main machine this afternoon I am no longer being offered the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Same problem here, so I hid the update and checked for new updates. Low and behold, got 2 new security updates for IE11, KB2976627 and KB3032359. Those installed successfully. I tried restoring KB3038314 and installing it again, but no dice.

I hid it again, checked for updates, nothing else there. I'm not worrying about it anymore and believe eventually Microsoft will pull it as they have so many others like this in the past.

Good luck to those that still care and continue looking for an answer.

This is obviously a bad Update. I have brand new systems I am installing Win 7 Pro 64 on and this Update is just broke. Come on, Microsoft. You broke the Authentication for Vista machines with an update this year and now this.
