KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install. This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11. I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail. The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday). Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution? After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error. I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

2015-04-18T02:32:30+00:00 I used Win8 (as well as 8.1) for sometime in my desktop, but my wife didn't get used to it. She complained a lot about the new interface and I myself didn't like it either.
After sometime I downgraded to Win7 and I will only upgrade to Win10 based on users feedback after it is released. After all, Win10 upgrade will be free, so I can wait a little bit. At first glance, Win10 interface seems to be great.

2015-04-18T02:16:20+00:00 Mine didn't either, then Unhide it. I may have rebooted at some point. But the gist is that the update was holding up other updates. Probably one that then allowed Windows Update to accurately not identify the culprit as a necessary update. Try a few times. My issue is resolved, and this was a fresh install today like every one else here. But I didn't make any registry changes or run any software or scripts.

2015-04-18T02:06:26+00:00 Your solution worked up until step 7 then it fell on def. ears. The first time I selected hide update and did a new scan for update's it found two new ones however by the time I got to step 7. and hid the faulty update for the second time A new scan didn't reveal any further updates.
