KB3038314 Fails to Install get the error 80092004.

KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install.  This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11.  I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail.  The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday).  Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?  After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error.  I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

    hi all found away round it from LD many thx mate it worked refs everyone's problem this solution works providing you follow this big thx to LD wicked massive respect to you mate.

    Solution which works for me:

    1. search for updates
    2. install all updates & optional updates except the  KB3038314.
    3. uninstall IE11 --> restart PC
    4.  search for updates 
    5. install all available updates & optional updates (including KB3038314)
    6. if updated successfully ---> restart PC
    7. search for updates  --> only update available should be IE11
    8. donwload and install IE11 with windows update function
    9. restart and enjoy your Windows 7 with latest patches

    ad'4 ) If IE 11 is uninstalled, there is no KB3038314  in portfolio of updates....

    To me this is a farce with the uninstall and re-install the IE11.....etc - it's a simple way to destroy the disk becouse I have SSD !

    What does a SSD have to do with it?????

    SSD is sensitive becouse of quantity of writting

    There have been several "fixes" listed in this thread, but people need to keep in mind that they may or may not work and potentially may cause the MS fix (now that they have acknowledged the problem) to cause other issues or not work. I would just wait for the official fix.

    One other thing I have noticed it that many say it only happens (besides for a new install) when going from IE8 to IE11. That is not always the case. I have one machine that went from IE9 to IE11 that also has the issue. It never had IE8 to begin with. But the update to IE11 via WU was just about a week ago, so it got the IE11 version with the update already installed. A machine that was updated from IE9 to IE11 about a month ago via WU did not have this update included and thus took it without issue.
