KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install.  This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11.  I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail.  The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday).  Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?  After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error.  I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

    Working Here!!!

This is what I did. After the install, I set WU to check for updates but let me choose weather to download and install the updates. After checking for updates EI 11 popped up, so I hid that one and installed all others. On the next check for updates EI 9 and 10 popped up, I hid those also. After doing updates all day and getting everything completely up to date. I then restored EI 11 from hidden updates and installed it without any problems at all. And there was no nagging about the KB3038314.

    Hope this helps others.

Sorry, but this definitely does NOT work.

After having the issue on one machine, this is exactly what I tried on another machine.

YES, the update completes successfully. YES, you are able to install IE11 after the Update.

But afterwards, you geht the popup "New updates are available" and this one update

is being offered, although it already is installed. You just discovered another way to

run into the same error. But thanks for your input anyway  ;)

Curious...when installing IE 11, did you skip IE 9 and 10? Because that is how I did it. And still WU says no new updates available, and no errors.

Yes, It did install the KB3038314. And by no nagging I mean that it wasn't requesting to be installed even though it is installed. Weird that this worked for me and not for you. You had IE 9, 10, and 11 uninstalled leaving you with only IE 8? And from IE 8, installed IE 11? Not IE 9 or 10?

Thank you! I installed KB3032359 (two updates actually) , searched for updates afterwards and tried to install KB3038314. Got the same error.

This problem occurs only on fresh machines. Since I set up machines right after the march patchday without any problems, Microsoft could just rerelease KB3032359 (**Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer)**from march 15 as a prerequisite for KB3038314. I can't find the update online for download unfortunately.

    Here's KB3032359 for Windows 7 x64 Internet Explorer 11:

I guess it's better to have KB3032359 installed than not to have KB3032359 installed, but KB3038314 still refused to install.
