PC games not in fullscreen in Windows 10

Hello again type in the search box winver that will tell the version you have, or control panel, system and security, that will also help.

Hello make sure you have the latest windows version 1709. Then open Windows resolution drop it two steps apply it but leave it open as you will return to it as then last steps. Open the graphics app find the setting for letter box, full screen, and aspect ratio. Click the full screen if the apply button does not work click aspect ratio apply then click the full screen again and then click the apply button, then go back to Windows resolution and set it back to recommended setting, that should fix it. Or maybe the latest windows version fixed that problem. My pc now displays full screen on Windows 10

That's not where I said to look for the Compatibility option I mentioned. You use the control panel to select, or verify if Full Screen is forced.

Intel Control Panel > Display > Five options at bottom of Window 

includes Scale Full Screen.

Select and click on Apply.

But don't just select this setting and be done with it. Experiment with all of them and learn what effect they have.

• If the games are running with black borders all around (no title bar or Window frame) your display setting may be set to

Center Image .

If the game is running in a Window clicking on Alt+Enter should change it to full screen ... If not, try the trick outlined by Kenneth.

Compatibility option are found in*... "( R/click games Shortcut > Properties )"* = The desktop shortcut you use to launch the game,

or you can use the games executable ( .exe ) found in the folder the game has been installed in.

You should only need the Compatibility setting I mentioned if the game is not centred on the screen. This option is useful when

a game gets pushed down and to the right of your screen, forcing part of the image off screen.

The trick in all this is to do with resolution/aspect ratio,  eg- a game using a 1024x768 resolution would run by default at 4:3 aspect ratio

(black bars on the sides because of wide screen =16:9 aspect ratio ).

• If your Intel graphics is set to Center Image, games that use a wide screen aspect ratio will run with borders all around if the games resolution is lower than the native resolution of the monitor,  eg- game @ 1600x900 with monitor resolution @ 1920x1080 .

This is just Windows trying to keep everything accurate relative to the resolution..

It's amazing how a game resolution even one step below your monitors native resolution can look so small, but forcing full screen

looses some image quality as the pixel size gets increased from original, so default settings may err on the side of image quality.
