Windows update KB3004394 causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:
All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.
Windows Defender service will not start
The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error

Removing it returns the system to normal.
Anyone else experience this?

That is not incompatible with what I wrote. If I say it's only 2006 BMWs that burst into flames, I'm not claiming that all 2006 BMWs will spontaneously combust.

2014-12-15T13:26:22+00:00 Exactly the same problem. Have to turn power off (UH !??). Fortunately after new normal start everything went well - configuration went trough and now everything is running as before without KB.
What are this MS guys doing - i'm completly disappointed. Such an exercise should never take place.

My gut feels like it's more OEM related.
