Windows update KB3004394  causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:

All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.

Windows Defender service will not start

The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error

%%-2147023113

Removing it  returns the system to normal.

Anyone else experience this?

and there was another problem.  I had done one of my own pcs and when rebooting I lost the internet.  I had a red x on the internet icon.  I then removed this update- rebooted, internet back.  This is a real nasty one and Microsoft needs to fix this.  Btw when I rebooted and windows asked me to install it again it said it was "important" not critical but I hid it anyway.

not only did removing the update fix the problem with other updates not installing, but also popped up with 108 additional updates that weren't showing previously (this is a new install)  Only common thread I'm seeing is this just seems to be affecting new installs, not upgrading existing.  I have 200+ other PCs, Laptops and servers that updated just fine, just this one new install that showed this issue.

Control panel, programmes and features, view updates on left panel, uninstall as usual.  Good luck
