Windows update KB3004394 issues

Windows update KB3004394  causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:

All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.

Windows Defender service will not start

The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error

%%-2147023113

Removing it  returns the system to normal.

Anyone else experience this?

    When you say this program will not run, exactly what happens?  Error messages?

    IE9 crashing is due to the IE 9 security update. I've seen numerous reports of IE9 crashing after the IE update, not KB3004394.  Remove the IE 9 security update as issues with that are under investigation as well.

    Adding post for the poor unfortunate admins like me so they reach this disucssion with search.

    Environments affected by the bad kb3004394.

    • Windows 2008 R2 using Terminal Services, Remote Desktop, Citrix XenApp.

    Issues envountered so far.

    • Package installs, updates fail with error 800706F7 as reported by many people.
    • Remote Assistance of users sessions fail to connect.
    • Internet Explorer 9 randomly crashes with Application log showing Application error ID 1000, iexplorer.exe faulting module IEFRAME.dll, Exception code 0xc0000005.

    I so hope no more critical issues present themselves before this evening when I can reboot the servers to complete the uninstall of kb3004394.

    I had this exact error with a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

    System was locking up and I noticed that Defender would not start.

    I tried to install Microsoft Security Essentials and it failed to install.

    Uninstalled the MS KB3004394 and everything is working again.

    Microsoft should remove this update and do some more testing.
