Windows update KB3004394 issues

I have all the update history listed.  Did anyone run a Windows update reset tool in an attempt to fix issues?  As that would reset the Windows history and unless you saved those files, there's no way short of a restore from a backup to get those back.

System update on 12th December 2014

After autoinstalling an update package I found myself unable to connect to the net and the speakers on my laptop switched off.

On performing a system restore to before the update I noted that

under the list of programs and drivers that might be be deleted there were no entries

under the list of programs and drivers that might be be restored there was one:

update package_for_kb3004494

For now I have switched off windows auto update

I'm just glad I don't use windows 8 as that seems even more badly effected. see:

Most probably it's KB3004394 which makes problems.

Either you uninstall it and reboot.

Or you install KB3024777 .

Please note that I don't work for Microsoft.  It's not "my" update.  I just volunteer here in these forums and label me with certain badges but in no way am I employed by the Company.  I am just as appalled and disgusted at the utter lack of testing that is evidenced not just in this update but in the

a. Exchange update that got pulled

b. The IE update that is breaking apps

c. The Office update that broke Excel macros

d. The Silverlight update that broke DRM

And that's just this month.

My answer to you is to call Microsoft directly because there is only so many things one can do in a forum and you need one on one support.

Anyone have cmd.exe error 0xc0000142 during shutdownafter the update on 13 Dec?

I have this problem and found that many others having the same problems too.

I think it is related to the window updates again!!!!!!!!!

Your update messed up my win7 good. Now I'm trying to restore it somehow.

Would you please do something that actually helps people here to fix the situation you (microsoft)

have caused (I have still corrupted system files, UAC control is not what it is suppose to be, trouble installing drivers, all operations have been slow after "update").

Would it be too hard to test "updates" before you launch them to public?
