Can't send email, keep getting server error 3219, Windows Live Mail error 0x8DE00005

I just recently started getting this error when using Live Mail synced with my hotmail account

Server Error: 3219

Server: http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync\_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00005

Looked for solutions online and tried most of the suggestions, but most are several years old and no longer apply since the switch to Outlook.

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00005

The error codes indicate that this Outlook.com account has been upgraded to the new version. Please sign into the account at http://mail.live.com; you should see something like the Outlook Mail banner shown here in the top left-hand corner of the window:

This means that you can't use DeltaSync to access this account any more, because Outlook Mail is not provisioned for it. You'll find step-by-step instructions for setting up the account to use IMAP instead on this page:

If you sign in in Windows Live Mail with this account, you'll find that the calendar will no longer synchronize.

    Strange. That has been a common fault for as long as I can remember, if this is an accurate description:

    •   Windows Live Mail is set up with a Microsoft Account as the default mail account, configured to use DeltaSync over HTTP.

    •   The user is normally signed in with the same account.

    •   With Windows Live Mail not running, when the user clicks on a mailto: link on a webpage, a message compose window opens partially completed. The user completes the message and clicks Send.

    •   The message is moved to the outbox (not visible at this stage, because the program interface has not opened) but fails to send and an error message is displayed.

    I think that the problem arises because there are two sorts of authentication using the same credentials going on at once - one for the sign-in and the other for the mail server. The only workaround that I remember is to ensure that Windows Live Mail is running before clicking on any mailto: or Contact us link. Start Windows Live Mail and if your message is not sent straight away, drag it out of the outbox to a drafts folder, then double-click on it and click Send. The outbox is below the account folders in the folder pane.

    This happen when using Live Mail and Windows 7. Tried restoring to an earlier save point, as well as trying to disable https, as suggested by several results from searching Google.

    More specifically, it seems to happen when I use Live Mail to send/receive mail using through various forum posts like Craigslist. I go to reply, click the email link, a pop up appears with the email ready to send, but when I try to send it, I encounter the error message.

    I don't remember having seen that error before, and I couldn't find a single example either here at this site or using Google and Bing. Can you point me to some of the pages you found?

    If you don't tell us which suggestions you've tried, you run the risk of getting them all again! Is this Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 8.1?
